Russian Descending Pyramid and Bird Dog: Enhancing Training Tolerance and Core Stiffness

The Russian descending pyramid method helps in avoiding neuro fatigue and enables a higher training tolerance level. The bird dog exercise, which involves extending one leg and the opposite arm while activating specific back muscles, promotes a DNF pattern, core stiffness, and stability. This exercise teaches the brain to dissociate joint motion of the shoulders and hips by engaging only half of the spine load, unlike other exercises. Through experiments, it was observed that training with the Russian descending pyramid and bird dog exercises increased torso stiffness, indicating lasting neural stiffness creation by the brain. This enhanced stiffness can alleviate pain and discomfort in some individuals for around 20 minutes to an hour after the training session.
