ETL vs ELT: Modern Data Pipelines and Legacy Data Pipelines
A modern data pipeline needs to meet the business requirements and keep up with the current set of data usage requirements. It should be cloud-based, able to scale easily, and set up quickly without infrastructure management. The shift from ETL to ELT is crucial, where data is brought in quickly and then transformed in place. Cloud data warehouses like Redshift and Snowflake are becoming more standard. Configuring the data pipelines to support fast delivery is also important. Legacy data pipelines fail to meet these modern requirements.
