Merely saying no to demands does not diminish the overall workload; rather, it shifts the burden onto someone else. To tackle burnout, there is a need for collective action and a shift in cultural expectations around work. While changing these expectations is a challenging task, individuals can initiate change by identifying and altering behaviors that inadvertently contribute to burnout culture in their workplaces.
