Impact of Sugar on Weight Loss and Health Markers
A study showed that two groups with equal calorie, protein, carb, and fat intake but differing in sucrose consumption had similar weight loss and health improvements. The group with higher sugar intake had slightly less improvement in LDL cholesterol, potentially due to lower fiber intake. The misconception that high fructose corn syrup is detrimental for weight loss, beyond its caloric content, was based on studies in rodents fed extremely high amounts not applicable to human consumption.
