Being a man means being in service to others and finding ways to be of value. There's a movement towards a more awakened manhood that recognizes strength and the role of both men and women. We need to reset our understanding of masculinity and redefine it beyond being a prize or a set of rigid expectations. Masculinity should not be a toxic and dangerous narrative that excludes those who don't fit certain criteria.
Today we’re kicking off a special 3-part series answering your questions on all things masculinity. Christine Emba, a columnist at the Washington Post and author of Rethinking Sex, joins Scott to set the scene of where masculinity stands today and how women can help define positive masculinity. Christine also discusses what current heterosexual dating dynamics look like.
After our conversation with Christine, Scott gives advice to a listener who is struggling with the challenge of advocating for men's issues while remaining mindful of women's concerns. He then discusses pornography, specifically its impact on young men when consumed in excess. He wraps up with a conversation about monogamy.
