Carbohydrate Needs: Brain, Red Blood Cell, and Kidney

We need around 100 grams of carbohydrates per day for the brain, red blood cells, and the kidney. Our use of carbohydrates depends on muscle activity, ranging from 40 to 70 grams per hour during exercise. For every gram of carbohydrate above the recommended daily allowance (130 grams), we need to account for it with exercise. On average, Americans consume 300 grams of carbs per day, which would require three hours of intense exercise. However, very few Americans engage in any form of exercise, let alone three hours.
