Trauma vs Stress

Stress is a natural response that humans are wired for, enabling them to navigate challenges and bounce back. It is temporary and does not fundamentally alter one's being. In contrast, trauma is a profound assault on one's sense of self and perception of the world, leading to lasting changes in behavior and identity. Trauma becomes frozen in the individual, creating a continuous state of fear, rage, or other intense emotions. While stress is a normal and adaptive biological process, trauma is deeply impactful and transformative, setting it apart from chronic stress.
