The Paradox of Generational Progress
Living in the modern world involves experiencing generational cycles built on the concept of progress. This concept originated from monotheistic religion, was enhanced by the Reformation, the Renaissance, and technology, leading to a linear view of history that propels each generation to devise strategies for advancement. Contrastingly, traditional societies with repetitive generational patterns lack this sense of progress. The paradox arises as these generational cycles emerge precisely when society perceives history as linear, creating a cycle of social moods despite the belief in a linear path of progress.
