Pandemic fatigue is causing deep-seated mental fatigue and draining our energy. Low capacity and low energy are not the same thing. Low capacity refers to how much we can handle for the entire day, while low energy is a temporary state. Our surge capacity, which was our reserve energy, has been depleted due to the prolonged pandemic. Mental fatigue is not just mental, but also physical, emotional, and psychological. It affects our ability to make decisions, take action, process emotions, and care about our goals. Despite feeling like this is our new normal, our energy levels will fluctuate. Accepting and recognizing our low-capacity days is the first step towards dealing with them.
