Are You Menstrual?

NOTE

Seek Clarity for Pain Symptoms

To diagnose hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (HEDS), individuals should first assess their chronic pain and musculoskeletal symptoms, along with any family history. If these criteria are met, consulting a geneticist for a connective tissue panel is the recommended next step to distinguish HEDS from other auto-immune disorders that may present similarly. If the criteria are not met, one may receive a diagnosis of hypermobile spectrum disorder (HSD). Currently, HSD and HEDS are treated equivalently due to shared comorbidities, and individuals diagnosed with HSD should not minimize their symptoms; they are deserving of equal treatment and support. Additionally, conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are notable for mimicking symptoms of these disorders.
