Different Forms of Attention
Attention can take different forms such as sustained attention, selective attention, alternating attention, and divided attention. Sustained attention is the ability to focus on a single task without being distracted. Selective attention involves focusing on one stimulus while filtering out others. Alternating attention is multitasking, which tends to decrease efficiency and increase stress. Divided attention allows reacting to multiple demands simultaneously, but it is less cognitively demanding and usually involves procedural actions.
