Hybrid work: Out of office
Boss Class from The Economist
Acknowledging what doesn't work in workplace productivity
Working from home has its flaws and challenges, according to Jamie Diamond, who believes it doesn't work for younger kids, apprenticeships, creativity, spontaneity, and management teams. While some jobs can track productivity easily, others can't. Diamond is open to the idea if it works, but doesn't mind abandoning it if it doesn't. However, he is skeptical about making such decisions to please employees, as it does not contribute to building a great company. A Microsoft survey reveals a significant gap between managers and employees regarding productivity in a hybrid work environment. While only 12% of managers expressed full confidence in their team's productivity, 87% of employees reported being productive. This discrepancy creates a dangerous situation as firms risk facing a big backlash if they try to push people back to the office.
