Why we need to train our 'no go' pathways
Drinking caffeine and constantly engaging in activities that require action or stimulation can cause us to neglect our ability to suppress behavior. It's important to train our 'no-go' functions, which involve deliberately imposing moments of restraint or delay in order to interrupt reflexive actions. By introducing intentional pauses throughout the day, such as delaying a bite of food for a few minutes, we can strengthen these pathways. In today's world, where there are abundant opportunities and rewards for constant action, it is crucial to keep our 'no-go' circuits trained and active.
