NOTE

Measuring Usefulness Through Instrumentation

Measuring usefulness is fundamental in UX design. Usefulness is utility and usability, and it can be best measured through instrumentation. Simply asking about ease of use and utility on a questionnaire may not yield accurate answers. Task analysis and understanding the user journey and goals are crucial for instrumenting a website to interrupt users at the right time to get the right answers. Without qualitative research, observing people, and conducting task analysis to understand goals and needs, effective instrumentation is not possible.
