The Effectiveness of Boycotts in Bringing Attention to Political Issues
Changing people's conceptions of politics and rethinking what we can do to address political issues is crucial. Even though a boycott may not directly impact a company's profits, it raises awareness and forces the company to respond and make the issue political. There are two models of boycotts, one being local where a community targets a small business and forces policy changes, and the other being widespread labor boycotts that took place in the 1880s in the United States.
