NOTE

Maintain Low Cholesterol to Prevent Atherosclerosis

Veins used as arterial bypasses can develop atherosclerotic lesions due to high pressure. Cholesterol can lead to atherosclerosis, even in metabolically healthy individuals, because arteries are inherently vulnerable to damage. Maintaining low LDL cholesterol levels, ideally between 20 to 40 mg/dL, minimizes the risk of atherosclerosis. The concept suggests that if everyone kept LDL cholesterol at levels similar to neonates or certain animal species, atherosclerosis could become exceedingly rare. Therefore, focusing on both reducing Apo Beta levels based on risk and promoting insulin sensitivity is essential for optimizing cardiovascular health.
