Effectiveness of Muscle Sets in a Workout
Muscle growth is most efficient with six to eight hard sets on one muscle in a workout, beyond which additional sets might not lead to much more growth. A split routine dedicating 15 to 20 sets to one muscle group is likely inefficient, whereas a full body or upper lower split with six to eight hard sets per muscle group per workout spread throughout the week tends to generate more progress for most lifters.
