Personal growth and healing involve doing less of the patterns and behaviors that were learned to seek safety, love, and connection, such as achievement or people-pleasing. Transformation and clarity come from unwinding certain thinking patterns rather than adding more to oneself. Deep wisdom is accessed by moving beyond the impulses to do more and connecting with a fundamentally whole inner self. Different traditions may refer to this inner wisdom as the 'self,' 'true nature,' or 'higher self.'
