How to Measure REM Sleep

Tricking yourself into leaning into tasks can be made easier by using techniques like the Pomodoro technique or sprints, which anchor you to stimuli and reward events. These techniques can provide a little reward value, even if it's artificial. It's interesting to note that sleep trackers are not effective at measuring REM sleep, which is actually quite difficult to measure outside of a lab. REM sleep is something that protects and regulates itself, and only becomes dysregulated when there are more serious problems. So, there's no need to worry about REM sleep measurements from devices like the aura ring.
