Comparison of Nuclear Capsid Antibodies and Spike in Infection
Nuclear capsid antibodies are produced in lower quantities than spike antibodies during an infection. The nuclear capsid is the most abundant protein in an infected cell, which may explain the lower quantities of nuclear capsid antibodies. The difference in quantities may not be due to detection issues, but potentially because of differences in degradation rates and glycosylation patterns on the FC portion.
