The importance of M-Tor in nutrient sensing and muscle mass is highlighted, along with the risk of sarcopenia. However, blocking M-Tor can also extend lifespan. The optimal level of M-Tor activity is necessary for the body's functioning. Surprisingly, rapamycin treatment can preserve muscle mass in rats and mice, although the explanation is unclear. It is speculated that the dosage plays a role. The effects of rapamycin on muscle building in humans and rodents are yet to be determined.
