The Ridiculously Human Podcast
Gareth Martin speaking to inspiring humans
None of us were put on this planet to be a watered down version of ourselves.
In a world where it can seem that people are anti-human and wanting to become cyborg transhumans, this podcast is here to let you know that it’s perfectly ok to be a cool, fun-loving, caring and kind HUMAN!
My desire, through the art of storytelling and story listening, is to share a captivating narrative that traverses everything it means to be human. Not just any human…Ridiculously Human!

RHP#006. John Sanei, Trenovator, Moonshot Chaser, Author and Keynote Speaker
Storyteller. Trenovator. Forever optimist. Lank good bloke. Moonshot chaser. Persian African. The world’s one and only, John Sanei. You just have to listen to this!! John Sanei - what a top man! He is going to inspire and get you motivated through his storytelling and his passion and zest for life From rags to riches, to nothing and back up to riches. His true purpose in life is now in full flight but it’s how he got there which is fascinating, eye-opening, jaw dropping and intriguing to understand The great thing about John and his story is that nothing needs to be made up, nothing is smoke and mirrors, nothing is sensationalised. He tells it as it is, no holds barred and it totally lifts you up! It was such a huge privilege for us to get such a big chunk of John’s time and for him even agreeing to speak with us especially considering a couple of weeks before he was meeting people like Carl Fussman and Larry King Born in Swaziland to his Persian parents, it was an early divorce and being financially challenged as a family which cultivate the type of younger man he becomes. His teenage years and early adulthood are experiential and at times shifty but serve him many valuable lessons early on. In the Podcast we hear how a young personal trainer is able to afford a lavish lifestyle and what it’s like to run the most successful restaurant chain at that time in South Africa. What it’s like to have so much money you don’t know how to spend it and then also having no money at all and not being able to afford a cup of coffee or even toiletries Besides his many achievements and accolades, these days you can mainly find him in his ‘happy place’ on stage speaking to people and organisations around the world. Providing them insight into what the future holds and why we need to be ready for it and get extremely excited about it too! There are so many tools, lessons, anecdotes and ‘between the lines’ sort of stuff in this conversation that are going to get you pumped and invigorated for life. We hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did. Gareth Pickering grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa and now is a man with many temporary homes around the world. His life has been very colourful and experimental in many ways. He is amazingly sharp and chirpy for someone at 5am in the morning, speaking to us from his kitchen in Antigua, Guatemala In the Podcast we explore many a topic with some real ‘aha moments’. One of those is writing done what your perfect day looks like and using that as a platform to realise what your purpose in life is. RHP#004. Dr Espen Hjalmby, Ninja Warrior and Founder of Bonfire Hot Yoga
Survivor. Believer. Extrovert and Enthusiast. Ninja Warrior. Entrepreneur. Good bloke and Yogi. Espen is the epitome of mind over matter. Today his story explains why. When you hear people’s life stories like Dr Espen, you truly begin to understand what the power of belief can do. While in this day and age, belief systems and positive thinking are still tinkering on the esoteric side of things, they are core principles and philosophies which people are exploring more and more to understand how best to deal with the stresses of our fast paced, modern day life. We were extremely privileged to have Dr Espen on the show and share his story. He was so honest and allowed us to go deep on some truly sad and tragic events which occurred so early on in his life. He is a fine example of seeing opportunity in every situation. Born in the sleepy but beautiful town of Arendal in Norway, he now resides on the Gold Coast of Australia where he coaches, teaches and practises his trade. Early family tragedies, being locked up in prison, breaking both legs and his back in a motorbike accident are events which shape the man we know today. Dr Espen’s belief system is a foundation and pillar of his well-being and gives you a lot to think about when it comes to your own. When you look between the lines, his spirit for life can only inspire you. We hope you enjoy this conversation as much as we did.
