S2 Tip: Seeing Yourself in a Clarity Break
Did you know that the average person begins to feel unsettled after merely four seconds of silence in a conversation? We don’t like silence. We are downright uncomfortable with it. And when there isn’t noise we freak out! Anybody else sleep with a noise machine? So how, in a world of perpetual, overlapping noise, does a leader get the time to think and reflect on the health and soul of their business?
The leaders who can embrace the quiet and confront the uncomfortable will tell you that’s where the magic happens. That’s the space in which the big picture becomes clearer and the immediate seems less significant (because most of the time it is). This is the space where problems are identified, clarity is gained, and ideas are sparked! In this S2 Tip, Chris White shares a story of a friend who recently gained massive clarity during their own clarity break, and he encourages you to not rob yourself of the same opportunity.
This S2 Tip is sponsored by S2 Sync.

#025: Prioritizing the Soul with Benj Miller and Chris White
Philosophers, scientists, and perhaps the particularly reflective daydreamers alike, have all marveled at the question, “What is the soul?” Here at S2, we couldn’t have founded a company called System & Soul without giving a considerable amount of thought to that question as it relates to, not only the human soul, but the soul of the business.
Today, Benj Miller and Chris White dive into the S2 Framework and discuss how it prioritizes the soul of the business and helps accelerate the value of the organization and its attractiveness to the market. You’ll learn how S2 defines the soul of the business and its components and how this foundation is the best framework for helping you gain clarity and control in your business.

S2 Tips: What Makes a Great Coach?
One of our most talked about S2 episodes to date was with John Ott. In that episode John discusses the two most desirable attributes that make a great leader––inwardly sound and others-focused. Today we’re going to add two more attributes to this to paint the picture of a great coach.
In this S2 Tip, Benj Miller discusses the importance of strategic thinking and effective communication, and he dives into the key practices that leaders must embrace in order to possess these leadership attributes.

#024: Permission to Glow with Kristoffer Carter
Let’s have a soul conversation. An increasing number of leaders today are discovering the benefits of taking a spiritual approach to executive leadership. This week, we are super excited to learn from Kristoffer Carter, a spiritual teacher, author, and executive coach who teaches leaders to harness the opportunity of chaos through spiritual practices and allow it to guide them to achieving their biggest goals.
In this episode, Kristoffer walks us through the components of his new book Permission to Glow, which teaches leaders how to access their highest expressions in life and leadership through The 4 Permissions. He also discusses the four most common “frenemies”––counter productive leadership traits that act as obstacles to our leadership.

S2 Tips: "Priorities" Is an Oxymoron
Did you know that the plural form of the word “priorities” wasn’t used commonly until the 1950’s? That’s because it’s an oxymoron. A priority, by definition, refers to the thing that’s in first place. If you have more than one thing in first place, essentially, you have nothing in first place.
In this week’s S2 Tip, Benj Miller challenges us to rethink our understanding our own priorities and narrow them down to one thing. Doing so may very well provide some clarity and control in your leadership and your business by homing in on that one thing you need to own.

#023: Mapping the Leader's Brain with Katerina McNally and Adrien Quevedo
Are you ready to get brainy? What if you could map out your brain to help you navigate the areas in which you’re underperforming? Does that sound like science fiction? Well it isn’t, and your co-host Chris White went through the process himself!
Today on the System & Soul Podcast, we are excited to get neurologically nitty and gritty with the COO and CEO of Newrologix, Katerina McNally and Adrian Quevedo, to talk about the ground-breaking work they do in neurofeedback. This neurological brain mapping is helping many business leaders understand the way their own brains works, and ultimately set the paths for a more efficient work life and a healthier home life.

S2 Tips: Embrace The Rules of Improv
Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles, Wayne Brady––these aren’t exactly the first names that come to mind when you think of brilliant entrepreneurial minds. No, when you think of these names, you think of Whose Line Is It Anyway?, “the show where everything is made up, and the points don’t matter.” But, as it turns out, the actors and comedians who wow us from stage with their off-the-cuff, on-the-fly wit, often follow an unofficial set of rules called The Rules of Improv, which surprisingly “set the stage” for some insightful and helpful tips that we can implement to make our businesses better, healthier, and more efficient.
In this S2 Tip, Benj Miller walks through his favorite Rules of Improv as he extrapolates how they have the potential to better our communication, listening, brainstorming, collaboration, and leadership within your own businesses.

#022: Engineering Your Culture with Jude Homola
It IS possible for your organization to engineer its culture. Too many businesses today just passively accept the current culture they posses without take steps to actively and intentionally cultivate the healthy, productive, profitable culture they could have.
To talk about engineering culture, who better to invite onto the System & Soul podcast than an actual engineer who has helped create a thriving culture within his own organization? Today Chris and Benj are joined by Jude Homola, Founding Partner at Windsor Engineers, to discuss the “spherical growth concept,” how his engineering mindset helped him shape his organization’s culture, and how core values play into the model of Windsor Engineers’ culture.

S2 Tips: How Do You Build an Org. Chart?
Any organization that wants to operate with clarity needs to have a hierarchal structure. That’s Business 101. Perhaps the most popular way businesses organize this structure is through an organizational chart, which maps out all the roles, functions, and relationships to other roles. Also, Business 101. What isn’t Business 101 is how to build an org. chart.
In this week’s S2 Tip, Chris White explains a functional, systematic way of organizing the structure of your business. It’s what we at System & Soul do to build and organize our team, and it’s one of the most foundational tools we use to gain clarity and control in our business. #021: Instilling a Culture of Personal Growth with Larry Dorfman
When an organization wants their business to grow, they need to equip their people to grow first. That’s why we are stoked to invite Larry Dorfman, the former Founder CEO of APCO Holdings and Partner at Roots Real Estate Exchange onto the podcast. Larry takes us on his journey of personal growth and how it drove him to instill a culture of self-improvement within his own companies.
He talks about what it takes to get ideas and culture “upstream” to the c-suite leaders, and how he had to modify his org. chart to accommodate this upgrade in culture. Larry also also shares the meaningful work he’s doing in the real estate rental space which sets renters up for financial success rather than draining them of their hard-earned money.
