Kelly and Chip are join PhD, Author and Dominatrix, Colette Pervette to talk about releasing fear and stepping into your own power. Colette gives her story of getting into BDSM and talks about why her sessions with clients give the biggest life lessons of finding power. The biggest form of power for ourselves comes when we let go of control and surrender. "It's typically the opposite of what human nature tells us about power. Power isn't in control. It's in releasing control." Colette also teaches about releasing judgement and how the real root of our judgements is usually fear and fear of the unknown. What is the Shadow Self?  (The Velvet)

It’s spooky season, which makes it the best time to look at the shadow selves within each of us. Master Astrologer, Marvin Wilkerson, joins Kelly to educate listeners on the deep repressed parts of ourselves called the shadow. Marv answers questions like: What is the shadow? How do we know something is a part of our shadow? How do we work with those parts of ourselves and use them to grow and evolve?    “The essence of bravery is being without self-deception. However, it’s not so easy to take a straight look at what we do. Seeing ourselves clearly is initially uncomfortable and embarrassing.” -Pema Chodron   Marv describes how the shadow will present itself in our lives and how we are co-creators in all that we go through as humans. It’s all here to teach us something and enlighten us.    “You learn best from pain and you don’t forget pain.” - Marv    “In this life, no one person is better than anyone else. We all have a shadow. In fact, the only way we recognize things in other people is because they are within us.”    Website: astromarv.com Email: marvin@astromarv.com Follow Velvet's Edge on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/velvetsedge/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Life Be Lifin' and Other Ways To Find Peace Through Pain (The Edge)

Many of you may know singer/songwriter, Blessing Offor, as the outstanding vocalist who sang so strongly he had all four judges turn their chairs around. Although his talent is something only dreams are made of, it's his sroty of hardship and then his positive outlook on life that makes him the magnetic human that he is. Blessing was born without vision in his left eye and lost vision in his right eye in an accident as a young boy. To most, this would be a tragedy hard to recover from, for Blessing it was his call to channel that hardship into purpose. "If you told me I had the chance to do that moment (losing vision in his right eye) all over again, I would say, where do I stand? I would do it exactly as it happened, because that moment is the moment that shaped me into who I am today." Blessing talks about the one question he asks himself when he is having a hard time or bad day/moment: "We put so much energy into what's wrong, like the traffic, and what I know is that it's never really about the traffic. There is always something deeper that's actually going on." His favorite quote:"Grief carves a canyon, so that joy can overflow it." And the best tidbit his therapist ever pointed out to him about the human condition: "Sitting with yourself is a truly POWERFUL thing." Blessing also tells Chip and Kelly about his musical inspirations, new music coming up and where listeners can go on the journey with him. website: blessingoffor.com socials: @blessingoffor    Follow Kelly: @velvetsedge  Follow Chip: @chipdorsch Email: theedge@velvetsedge.comFollow Velvet's Edge on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/velvetsedge/See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
