Plus, since we're halfway through the season, we have our midseason special guest Alex Brizard here to break down everything from this episode and the highlight moments this season leading up to it. Once we break into the actual recap, we cover everything from how Johnny Bananas and Tori Deal feel like they're flipping game styles this season, who is the new era face of this show, why Bananas didn't pick Cara Maria and how we felt about Kyland going toe to toe with Bananas. Next we break down Banana's gameplay over the last 5 seasons and debate whether or not Bananas had another other choice of action other than what transpired on this episode of Challenge 40. This week we got together to break down MTV's The Challenge Season 40 "Battle of the Eras" episode 10 "A New Era" and all the craziness that came with it! We open up with a quick intro to discuss some scenes that were in the season preview but not in the show so far, our quick overview of the highlights of the episode and where Corrina's big disconnect with the show and fandom comes from. We kick off the episode by breaking down the Devin cutouts, clearing up what we felt Josh did wrong in his conversation with Rachel last episode, fake friendships vs gameships, Michele evidentially giving up on her alliance with Bananas and how did the target bands actually get worse?! Next we discuss how the format change will effect the game and players going forward, what previous season this second half of season 40 reminds us of, who's final ready in this type of heat and who impressed us most in this daily even if they didn't come in first place. We also discuss whether or not Michele Fitzgerald is made for The Challenge, our thoughts on the Ladies of Leisure, Bananas making a Dr Will Big Brother move and following it up by stealing a joke from Cedric The Entertainer and passing it off as a threat to Tori and Jordan. To finish off the middle portion of this episode, we discuss women who aren't afraid to stand up to powerhouse men like Johnny Bananas. We also discuss Jordan's approach to winning this episode, why Rick is always secretly hoping for a public bar situation, Tori's master plan, Rachel's master game play this season and Bananas' oversight on Jordan's reach in the house. Finally we break down the elimination, what we thought about the questionable parts of it, how we feel about the new targets rule, the entire direction of the gameplay of the show being all about Devin, whether or not Bananas jokes and quips are getting old, lines of the night, MVPs and so much more! This week your Challenge Fandom Podcast hosts Rick, Corrina and Josh get together to recap MTV's The Challenge season 40 "Battle of the Eras" episode 6 "My Real Friends Era" but first, we kick off with a couple of stories about our trip to Detroit, what it was like recording at GOHT Media studios where The Zach Nichols Podcast is recorded, our adventures on a pedi-bike and Josh tells a hilarious story about his new Vespa (0:00 - 18:00). Then we break into the opening part of this episode and discuss the episode titling system for this season, what the point of this photo foreshadow was, are Laurel and Cara truly like big sister/little sister, did Jenny handle the situation with her team correctly, Nehemiah's gift to Jonna and does Jelly Belly have a new Banana flavor?! Next we break down the daily including our thoughts on Laurel and Cara's speeches to their team, whether or not Cara should have thrown the daily challenge and Derrick's resiliency! Next we crack into the nomination ceremony by discussing Josh and Jenny's decision to call a team meeting and then ignoring the points made in the meeting, Bananas exploiting Josh's emotions in nominations, Cory's speech game and what needed to happen in order for Josh to have the guts to do what he needed to do in this moment. We also discuss the highly disappointing club scene including Derrick Kosinski being knowledgeable about buildings around the world, Bananas attempt at dismantling Devin and Michele's relationship and whether or not it's okay to self nominate with conditions. Welcome back for another episode of Roundtable Recap with your Challenge Fandom Podcast host team of Rick, Corrina, Katie, Alexis and Josh plus we are joined this week with one of our good friends from The Challenge 40, Kyland Young of Era 4. This week we break right into the episode with a couple of small discussions around how we are feeling about the hookups this season, our episode grades, Jenny and Aneesa's conversation and of course the closure on Josh and Tori's feud. Then we break into the daily and discuss everything from the silly armbands to questioning why it's necessary to put these Challengers in physical danger for the show to be good? We break down a few of the questions including one that we felt was a bit unfair as The Challenge has never given official titles for winner formats. By this time Kyland joins us and breaks down some things we didn't see in the edit and discusses why it was actually a positive to have an odd number of players in this daily, and did we see all of the sudden death round? Next we break into the bar scenes with Jordan coaching Nia on how to suck up to Bananas and in turn, Bananas refusing to stalemate for Derrick and Derrick drawing up battle plans in an attempt to save Era 1 from going into cardiac arrest. We also break down the odd Era 2 team meeting, were the living conditions as bad as people were saying and why is it smarter to keep Jordan and Nia on your good side at this point of the game? Finally we turn the tables over to Kyland fully and allow him to recount step by step exactly what happened in the Horacio VS Derrick Kosinski elimination including things we weren't shown and he even includes his own assessment of what happened and how he feels about the whole situation. Before he takes off he gives a bit of backstory on how he felt when Josh revoked his act of volunteering once it came time for the elimination winners to pick new targets. We are back for a full recap of The Challenge 40 EP1 "The Era Invitational Part 1" and we had such a great episode. We kick off talking a bit about the episode 0 Launch Special including how we feel about the past break between seasons, why this season has been made to be so difficult to watch for fans, what we liked (and disliked) about the house, Rachel's speech, the tribute to Diem and more (0:00 - 19:00). Next we break into recapping episode 1 and we start off with some discussion topics like TJ's stats, whether or not the cast is too big, how we felt about the commercial trick, whether or not episode 0 and episode 1 truly needed to be separated and did the cast really arrive in that shipping container? We also discuss everything in the intro from TJ's entrance and CT's emotional moment to our favorite "what I would do with the money" confessionals. We move on to discuss the purge nightly including whether or not we thought it was sufficient enough to be a deciding challenge for 8 iconic players to be eliminated right out the gate. We also break down some of the editing missteps in this episode such as editing some of the finishers out of order, and why were people from one era helping people from another era? To end the daily breakdown we discuss how we felt about Nurys' reaction to losing the challenge, what impressed us most about the first place finishers and who shocked us most in this opening performance? (19:00 - 1:05:00). Lastly we break into the house deliberations by discussing the possibilities between Ryan, Derek and Laurel as well as Paulie's interesting conversation with Bananas. We also discuss Tony's pitch to Cory, Josh's pitch to Theo, Bananas' odd speech about relationships in the house and would you rather have photos of your loved ones with you or leave them at home? Lastly we break down the various nomination chamber pleas including Derrick volunteering for Darrell, Cara's logical argument followed by a potential mistake, Brandon taking Ryan's callout personally, Tony taking shots at Jordan right in front of him, Amanda using insults to try and get a favor, how Michele botches power every time she has it and of course, Paulie calling out Theo for calling out Paulie. What a mess! We also discuss why this cliffhanger was a bad place to do it, what we hated most about this episode, who we think will end up in eliminations in episode 2, how season previews mixed with social media can give more spoilers than production realizes, MVPs and of course.. we give a special shout out to a Challenger who went that extra step this season!
