Send us a textIn this episode I’m sitting down with with Kathy Cheng , one of Inc. Magazine’s Top 100 Female Founders of 2020. Kathy is the President and Founder of Redwood Classics. You may not recognize the brand, but chances are you’ve seen or even worn their clothing. Redwood Classic is a leading apparel manufacturer that provides fashion forward, made in Canada clothing to both the retail and promotional products industry. Kathy is a staunch advocate for diversity in the workplace, and is equally passionate about helping provide opportunities for communities underrepresented in the fashion industry. I invited Kathy to be a guest on my show to discuss her being named one of Inc. How to Build a Strong Brand by Building a Strong Village with Jim Button

Send us a textThis episode of Branding Matters is a little different. The conversation takes a bit of a detour away from branding and veers into more of a spiritual direction. The reason being is that just over 4 years ago, my guest was given one year to live. But against all odds, this unicorn is still here and living what he describes as “a life with purpose.” His name is Jim Button, and he is the Co-Founder of one of Calgary’s favourite breweries - Village Brewery. A true leader in marketing and community building, Jim’s passion for community investment has earned him impressive accolades which include a philanthropy award from the Canadian Association of Fundraising Professionals, TWO “Top 40 Under 40” awards with Avenue Magazine, and Community Builder of the Year award from the Alberta Small Brewers Association, just to name a few. I invited Jim to be a guest on my show today to discuss why he thinks it takes a village to build a brand. I also wanted to discuss Jim’s new fundraising program that focuses on the mental health of kids living with cancer. 💥IF YOU WANT HELP GETTING YOUR CLIENTS TO FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR BRAND,  REACH OUT TO ME ON SOCIAL AT BRANDING_BADASS OR EMAIL ME AT JGOODSON@GENUMARK.COMSupport the showBRANDING MATTERS is one of the 40 Best Branding Podcasts worldwide. How to Use Creativity For Good with Scott Goodson (Strawberryfrog)

Send us a textFor my first episode I'm sitting down with Scott Goodson; the Founder of StrawberryFrog - the world’s first movement marketing agency dedicated to Cultural Movement Marketing. I've known Scott my entire life as he also happens to be my big brother.  And since he was one of the first people I told about this podcast, it's only natural he be my first guest. Through StrawberryFrog, Scott has established his own purpose to use creativity for good. He has created entirely new ways of thinking about both the development of distinctive brands as well as the cultural conditions necessary to support them. In doing so, he is reshaping how many leaders and large corporations think about structuring their businesses for success. Scott set out a new competitive advantage called Movement Marketing, as a way to activate purpose in his Globe and Mail best selling book: "Uprising: How to Build a Brand and Change the World by Sparking Cultural Movements”. His ideas will challenge your habits and the formulas of the past, provide new ways to think about insight, sources of growth, and sources of meaning for modern businesses and the people who run them. When he’s not helping his clients spark a movement, Scott lectures at Harvard Business School, Columbia, and Cambridge University.Support the showBRANDING MATTERS is one of the 40 Best Branding Podcasts worldwide. How to Make a Shift from “It’s All About Me” to “It’s All About We” with Charles Rosen (Ironbound Cider)

Send us a textMy guest today is an old friend from my university days, Charles Rosen. Since those crazy days at UWO (University of Western Ontario) Chuck, as we fondly called him, has had an incredibly diverse career…or should I say several careers. From successful lawyer, to movie producer, to starting his own New York ad agency where he worked with some of the world's most iconic brands like Coca-Cola and Ben & Jerry’s. He even tried his hand at politics where he worked with Hillary Clinton. Today Chuck is building his own successful brand in his latest career as a farmer. Yes, Charles Rosen is a farmer. He is the Founder of Ironbound Farm -  home of Ironbound Hard Cider and New Ark Farms. Nestled in the foothills of the New Jersey Highlands, this is no ordinary farm and by all accounts, no ordinary cider. What makes Ironbound Farm and Ironbound Hard Cider so unique, other than it’s founder, is it was built on the belief that businesses must take responsibility for the impact they have on the social, economic, and ecological well-being of their communities. It’s a unique social enterprise network committed to building a collective of local farmers, food producers, retailers, and restaurateurs as an alternative food economy in which land and people thrive. I invited Chuck to be a guest on my show, not only because of his larger than life personality, but when I think about how brands are making a shift from “It’s all about me” to “it’s all about “we” Chuck puts his money where his mouth is.Support the showBRANDING MATTERS is one of the 40 Best Branding Podcasts worldwide. Send us a textBonnie Rothman is the President and Founder of Company B - a successful New York communications firm that helps brands connect with their customers through compelling story-telling. Company B was built on the promise of pinpointing a brand’s story to shape messaging, execute public relations and social media campaigns, and launch brands with exacting, exciting content. As a former contributor to The New York Times, and screenwriter mentored by Norah Ephron, Bonnie knows what makes a story take hold. She has worked with global brands like Kraft Foods, Kaplan and eBay, non-profits like the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and early and mid-stage tech companies. Her partner Judy Kalvin, has over two decades of experience in public relations specializing in creative services agencies and marketing tech companies. Judy often speaks on public relations topics at creative services conferences around the world, and in 2002 she won the New York City Council’s Annual Women of Achievement Pacesetter Awards. I invited Bonnie & Judy to be on my show to discuss why branding matters to them and to learn about Founders Stories and why they're so important in connecting brands with their audience. We also discuss why now, more than ever, companies need to take responsibility and action on issues they believe in to create real change.💥IF YOU WANT HELP GETTING YOUR CLIENTS TO FALL IN LOVE WITH YOUR BRAND,  REACH OUT TO ME ON SOCIAL AT BRANDING_BADASS OR EMAIL ME AT JGOODSON@GENUMARK.COMSupport the showBRANDING MATTERS is one of the 40 Best Branding Podcasts worldwide.
