Because the Church is a christian religion, you'll find a lot of overlap when it comes to the doctrine of Christ. However, there are some important differences. We LOVE the comments we get on our videos! As you can see in the comment sections, we get a lot of love and a lot of hate and a lot of everything in between. Being members of the Church of Jesus Christ (often called Mormons), sharing our opinion on YouTube is both exciting and intimidating. There aren't many members of the Church (also referred to as the LDS Church) who strictly talk about the gospel of Jesus Christ (shout out to those who do!) so our voices make a lot of people very angry.    But guess what?    We read EVERY comment and love you all for commenting and expressing your opinions. They will often call both sects “Mormons,” which simply is not an accurate word for both sects. The confusion stems from the early history of the Church of Jesus Christ. In the early 1900s, some members of the LDS Church were excommunicated for their practice of polygamy, which they were told to abandon.    Of the FLDS Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said, "the polygamists and polygamist organizations in parts of the western United States and Canada have no affiliation whatsoever with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.”    In this episode, we indicate differences between the FLDS and the LDS religions. Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon Church) are encouraged to be wise with their finances. But what exactly does that mean? Is debt okay? If so, for what purposes? Also, are we required to keep a strict budget? In this episode, we talk briefly about the Church’s response to financial questions and then go into greater detail with our personal opinions on finances.    Some of the questions we often receive from our audience (a few of which we discuss today) are:    - Is it okay to go into debt for a car? School? A house? Is it okay to “finance” other purchases such as a TV or furniture?  - Should you discuss all of your financial decisions with your spouse or just big ones? Should you frequently discuss finances with your spouse? Parents?  - Should I discuss finances with my kids?  - Should you create a budget? Or just be aware of what you have in your account? Should you budget for certain large expenses? How often should you budget?  - How much in savings should I have? We get this question SO OFTEN and for good reason! Many of you are looking into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (otherwise known as the Mormon Church) and want to know if now is the time for you to be baptized or if there is something you should know prior to joining. While we don’t know each of your stories, we do know the importance of baptism and for that reason, our answer is…. MAYBE. Maybe you should, maybe you shouldn’t. Being baptized right this second isn’t for everyone, despite what your missionaries might think. However, if you are asking the question about being baptized, it’s a good time to consider why you are asking the question. Is there something holding you back? Something you are waiting to learn? In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, there is a pamphlet for young adults called “For the Strength of Youth” which essentially contains guidelines for how to behave in public as a young adult. The pamphlet has been changed a number of times since the 1960’s (when it was first released). The revisions have been necessary, as you can tell from this video. Today we respond to the original version of the pamphlet and WOW!! There are so many cringe worthy paragraphs, we just couldn’t stop reading! The pamphlet was clearly written in a more patriarchal era so you’ll notice lots of advice for young women— some of which is just too hilarious today!
