Jonathan Raymond "Good Authority"

Jonathan Raymond author of "Good Authority" past CEO and Chief Brand Officer at EMyth (the company behind the famous book), where I had the opportunity to lead the transformation of a global business and brand. Jonathan has worked in clean energy, e-commerce, and helped to found a non-profit that teaches mindfulness to at-risk youth. Refound is my attempt to bring it all together — to share the best of what I've learned in a way you can apply. If you're like most leaders I know, you had no intention of becoming a people manager. It turns out that the moment you have people working for you everything changes. It's not just that you need a new set of skills. It's that you have to learn to become a new version of yourself. Now you're the one who has to figure out how to motivate people, how to get people to communicate professionally, how to collaborate with teammates instead of devolving into gossip and politics. And, more than anything else, it's now your job to crack the code on how to get people to take risks instead of playing it safe. (Not to mention trying to do all that while navigating the organizational and cultural issues that were there long before you arrived). "Required reading for anyone who wants to do more than merely manage people. Good Authority is a modern classic, and it will redefine what it means to be the boss." - Seth Godin More on Jonathan Raymond & Good Authority: http://refound.com More on the host; Dov Baron. http://FullMontyLeadership.comGet bonus content on Patreon Learn more about your ad choices. What is Healthy Governance? #301

When your family business becomes bigger, a chance occurs in the organization. Usually it is called: Governance. Who has a voice in making decisions and who is accountable for those decisions? Ultimately, it is the 'Norms' of the organization that rule. And that may or may not be in the best interests of the organization. If the purpose is not clear, the Board has challenges. Dov covers all this and more in today's exciting episode. Plus: Do you have a fear of conflict? Let me help you out… Get Over It! I don't know if you've noticed, but there is a direct link between being a decisive leader and being a master of conflict. Bottom line: As a leader, if you cannot embrace healthy conflict you will have a hard time committing to your decisions. Great leaders are masters of conflict because they are willing to passionately disagree about the things they hold as most important. As a leader, you are a walking, talking living example to your people, they can and only will do what it is that you demonstrate through your own behavior. Leadership Expert, Speaker and Author, Jim Bouchard #299

Are you sick, tiered and angry about the quality leadership we are dealing with today...particularly at a political level? Do you wish someone would step up and call the craziness out? Our guest today is someone who decided to do something about it. Yes, I know it's shocking but he got angry about the way things were going and decided to do something about it. My guess today is a highly in demand leadership expert, speaker and author who I am honoured to call my friend (not in the Hollywood sense) but a real friend. He is someone I highly respect as a leader of leaders. He's also an outspoken individual who is committed to making a difference. And as a result has decided to jump into the crazy game of politics. He has chosen to run for the US House of Representatives as a Libertarian His slogan is "Not One. Penny. More." My mate Mr Jim Bouchard. Jim is always an outstanding guest and this time was no exception. I was just thinking how our discussion was in many ways an example of what healthy politics would look like. Passionate, heated (not always in agreement) and fighting for a common good! This is what the fools don't understand...We don't have to agree to like and respect each other to get along and make a difference. Check out Jim's Libertarian stance and get his free book here...I promise you'll find it highly stimulating! http://bit.ly/CrazyAngryLibertarian More on the host: Dov Baron http://FullMontyLeadership.comGet bonus content on Patreon Learn more about your ad choices. Curiosity and Leadership #298

Why curiosity may be your most important leadership quality. What does it mean to be curious. Are you interesting or interested? Are there any REAL Leaders left? Before I answer, I have to ask another question: Do you want to hear the absolute truth? I'm talking about the raw truth and definitely Not some buttered up, make it sound better than it is bunch of B.S. What I'm talking about is just you and me, sitting across the table from each other speaking our truth. (A word of caution…. What you are about to read will likely piss some people off. Maybe even you!) If you are ready to hear the absolute truth then I'm here to tell you that… There are no REAL Leaders anymore. Don't believe me? Take a look around. You and I both know that leadership in its present form is a about as effective as a Jell-O© bullet. The problem is, we've been trained to believe someone is a leader because of position, title or accumulation of goodies, and it's about time we realized; that's not "real" leadership. So let's boil leadership down to its core… You are a leader if you have people who have consciously decided to follow you. Note that I said consciously. That means they aren't following you because they have to, they're supposed to, or for any other reason than you, their leader, are the example of the way they want to be! So let's take a look at some so-called leaders we have today. Orlando Shooting Hate Crime or Terrorism? #295

Dov Baron talks about the recent shooting in Orlando. Was it Islamic terrorism or a Hate Crime? Mass shootings in the USA drive today's episode. From: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/14/us/orlando-shooting.html ORLANDO, Fla. — The gunman who went on a shooting rampage in a popular gay nightclub here shot nearly all of his victims in the first stages of the assault, then was utterly "cool and calm" while he talked by phone to law enforcement officials about further carnage, claimed allegiance to the Islamic State and praised the Boston Marathon bombers, officials said on Monday. As officials offered new details about the worst mass shooting in American history, which left 49 people dead and 53 wounded, Chief John Mina of the Orlando Police Department said that the gunman, Omar Mateen, 29, told police negotiators — falsely, they later discovered — that he had explosives and accomplices at Pulse nightclub. Mr. Mateen eventually made comments persuading them that "there would be an imminent loss of life," Chief Mina said, prompting the chief to end a three-hour standoff and order the assault that killed Mr. Mateen and freed dozens of people in trapped in the club.
