Tree Lighting!
This podcast is all about the Casa Linda Tree Lighting! The Greater East Dallas Chamber of Commerce is partnering with EDENS and Casa Linda Plaza merchants for the annual tree lighting and holiday party. It will be held on Monday, December 4 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at Casa Linda Plaza, located at Buckner Boulevard and Garland Road. The tree lighting will occur at 7:15 p.m. The event is organized by the Live Local Committee of the Chamber. There will be food and gift specials throughout the center and activities for kids including: reindeer and petting zoo, photos taken with Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, local choirs singing, train rides, ice arena, balloon artists, face painting, local food, drinks and hot chocolate. A 99 Year Old Prisoner of War - Herb Sheaner
Mr. Sheaner is one of the last Americans who was a veteran of WW2 and his story, like the story of countless others, will continue to remain a significant piece in US history.His story of survival, hunger and reflection from a teenaged prisoner of war inside Germany near the end of WWII is truly remarkable. From capture at the Battle of The Bulge to the final escape from his German guards, Mr. Sheaner gives us a glimpse into the despair and agony of being a prisoner in a foreign land.
