The dark side of the music business comes under scrutiny again as British artist manager, producer, and all-round industry veteran Mike Angel guests. Mike shares some of his personal experiences with demonology and the dark occult, and touches on the part it has always played in the entertainment business. He goes on to disagree with the findings of many current researchers, however, (myself included), including the idea that artists such as Jay-Z place occult symbols into videos and live shows under instruction from their Satanic paymasters, and the suggestion that many A-list artists have been subjected to mind control techniques. In Mike's estimation, the corporate industry machine is motivated by pure greed, and much of what gets interpreted as occult symbolism is cynically placed there to generate controversy, attention, and ultimately profit. He also argues that much of the erratic and bizarre behaviour of A-list artists may not be the result of mind control abuse, but is simply the inevitable result of a lifetime lived in the public spotlight, and all the pressures and restrictions on personal freedom that come with it.This is not to say that occult practices aren't present in the industry however, he suggests - including blood sacrifices - and to write these off as pure 'conspiracy theory' is to be naive. We speculate on how many artists who discover the true nature of what they've got involved with when signing a pact with the industry, wish they could go back to a life of obscurity and freedom. Irish author, researcher, musician, activist and satirist Thomas Sheridan is Mark Devlin's guest this time round, as we take a timely look at all the in-fighting, finger-pointing, and general lack of unity that is coming to permeate the 'truth movement'. We keep with strange stuff in the music scene for Volume 43, as US author and researcher Dave McGowan guests. Dave was behind the recent series of web articles shining the spotlight on the Laurel Canyon neighbourhood of Los Angeles, which has now become his new book, Weird Scenes Inside The Canyon. We ask the question why, of all places, did LC became the birthplace of the counter-culture/ hippie movement of the mid-1960s, rather than San Francisco as is often assumed, and why did a staggering number of the most prominent musicians from that era just happen to congregate in this community? The waters get muddied when it turns out that LC was home to a covert military intelligence base, and some delving into the backgrounds of the artists reveals that, almost without exception, they came from families connected with arms of the government. We get inside one of the oldest conspiracy theories in the book for Volume 39. Alongside JFK and 9/11 is the ongoing suspicion that NASA never actually landed a man on the moon in 1969, and that the entire Apollo programme was a hoax from start to finish. Marcus Allen, UK publisher of Nexus Magazine, has researched the story extensively, and here highlights some of the many anomalies and discrepancies with NASA's claim, involving photographic quirks, problems with radiation and extreme heat, and the strange and elusive behaviour of the astronauts on their 'return' to Earth. We question the motive behind John F Kennedy's 1960 claim that America would put a man on the moon by the end of the decade, plus the space race with the USSR. Marcus also addresses researcher Jay Weidner's theory that Stanley Kubrick was responsible for directing fake footage of the lunar surface, and discusses the 1977 movie Capricorn One, whose plot echoes a great many elements of the hoax story - as does a particular sequence of the James Bond movie Diamonds Are Forever. Volume 38 is all about the Reset project (www.thereset.org,) as originator Tahra Ahmed joins us to explain what it's all about. The Reset came about in response to the endless stories of corruption within the British Establishment - from financial scams to paedophilia and ritual abuse. It has responded to research by historians who have uncovered a constitution for the people of the United Kingdom that dates back to the signing of the Magna Carta in 1215. The key to it, Tahra explains, is people asserting their rights and their wishes through their local parishes. It's a little-known fact that, in their numbers, these parishes have the legal right to call for a constitutional convention, and that the UK government, judiciary and monarchy have to abide by whatever is agreed by the people of the land at this level.The Reset's proposal is the abolition of current methods of taxation, (income tax was only ever supposed to be a wartime measure anyway, Tahra points out,) and its replacement by a TEAL (Total Economic Activity Levy) of just one per cent for any individual or corporation making a financial transaction. This will relieve the tax burden considerably on ordinary people, she explains, while reaping billions from the monolithic corporations who have so far avoided paying any tax at all. The revenue raised would be triple what it was in Britain last year, straight way facilitating an allowance of £7,500 for every man, woman and child in the land.
