Christopher Standaert, MD, is a physiatrist and is board-certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation, and electrodiagnostic medicine. He is an associate professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and is the vice chair of outpatient services. He received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and completed his residency at the University of Washington, followed by his fellowship at Pioneer Spine and Sports Physicians. Dr. Standaert’s clinical focus is on the non-operative management of spine and neuromusculoskeletal conditions. He takes a very patient-centered approach to care, trying hard to identify the issues behind an individual's pain or injury and helping them understand this. He believes that knowledge is empowering, and he works with a wide range of providers to help his patients regain or optimize their ability to pursue meaningful activities in their lives. Throughout his career, Dr. Standaert has worked extensively on health policy issues at state and national governmental levels as well as for multiple professional medical associations and hospital systems. Toufic Jildeh is an assistant professor at Michigan State University, as well as a team physician for Michigan State University athletics and the US Olympic Ski and Snowboard team. He currently serves as a Head Team Physician for Michigan State Football and Basketball. He specializes in sports medicine, joint preservation, cartilage restoration, and joint reconstruction of the shoulder, knee, hip, and elbow. In addition, he also serves as the Chair of Orthopaedic Research in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Michigan State University. Academically, Dr. Jildeh has published more than 110 peer-reviewed manuscripts, book chapters, and abstracts. He has presented over 100 papers at conferences nationally and internationally. He has been the recipient of accolades such as the O’Donoghue Sports Injury Award from the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Best Clinical Research Award and Best Resident/Fellow publication from the Arthroscopy Association of North America, as well as top research accolades from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society, and American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. 118. Optimal Lighting for Productivity, Work, and Vitality | Robert Soler, MS

Robert Soler is the VP of Biological Research and Technology at BIOS. Prior to his work with BIOS, his most prominent work was with the Kennedy Space Center, where he helped design and build the first LED light for use on the International Space Station (ISS) and collaborated with scientists to use LED light for photo biological purposes in space, including the circadian lighting system designed to synchronize circadian rhythms of astronauts aboard ISS. He holds a Master of Science degree from the Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and has begun a PhD in Behavioral Neuroscience at the University of California, San Diego. Robert owns over 70 patents in lighting technology, and continues to research new applications for lighting. Jan Carney, MD, MPH, is the Master of Public Health Program Director, Associate Dean for Public Health and Health Policy and Professor of Medicine at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont. She earned a BA from Middlebury College, MD from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, and Master of Public Health (MPH) from the Harvard School of Public Health. Dr. Carney is active in public health practice, research, education, and service. She served as Vermont’s Commissioner of Health under three gubernatorial administrations, championing improvements in children’s health insurance, preventing teen smoking, and improving cancer screening. She received the Vermont Public Health Association “Public Health Champion” Award in 2018 and was recently awarded the UVM President’s Distinguished University Citizenship and Service Award for her innovative teaching, creative leadership, and service to the UVM community. Nationally, Dr. Carney is currently a member of the Board of Regents of the American College of Physicians, the largest medical-specialty organization, and second-largest physician group in the United States.
