Hunter has had the privilege of working with 9 1st round picks in the last 6 years including the number 1 overall pick and MLB All-stars. Hunter was valedictorian of his High School class who attended Vanderbilt University, where he was both an All American on the field as well as academically.  Bledsoe still holds the record for highest batting average in a season at .459 and highest for career at .425.  He also, won the NCAA Top VIII award which is given to only 8 athletes a year, and is chosen from all NCAA athletes men and women, all sports, all divisions.  Hunter is the only Vanderbilt athlete to win this prestigious award, and the 1st baseball player to win it in 20 years. He has been a top touring DJ/remixer/producer for the past 15 years, having played in premier venues in virtually every major market in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Open-format DJ/performer,  Silver has been traveling the world playing every kind of event and venue from the largest nightclubs, high-profile celebrity parties and exclusive private events to massive sporting events, award shows, major music festivals and arena tours and all that’s in between.  In April of 2014, Silver launched a nationally syndicated weekly radio show called “The Country Club with Dee Jay Silver.”  Touring extensively with Jason Aldean (10 years) as well as, Chris Young, Kane Brown, Randy Houser, Florida Georgia Line, Jake Owen, Brad Paisley, Luke Bryan, Rascal Flatts, Eric Church, Cole Swindell, Tyler Farr, Thomas Rhett, Luke Combs, and many more. Charlie founded Country Radio Seminar in 1969. The Monk Family Music Group was named ‘Publisher of the Year’ in 1998. Monk received the ‘Joe Talbot Award’ from the Country Music Association in 2021, which honors “exceptional leadership and dedication to the preservation and promotion of Country Music’s values and traditions."      His birthplace of Geneva, AL recognized him by naming a section of Westville Ave as ‘Charlie Monk Lane.’ And in 2014 Charlie was inducted into the ‘Alabama Music Hall of Fame.’ Charlie is an active member of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, the Gospel Music Association, Academy of Country Music, Nashville Songwriters Association and the Country Music Association.  After beginning his broadcast career in several Alabama markets, Charlie headed to the Music City, Nashville, in 1968 for a broadcasting job. Upon arrival he had some songwriting success co-writing songs with Keith Stegall, Jim McBride, Charley Pride, Eddy Arnold, Jerry Reed, Jimmy Dean, and Pat Boone. Three very notable artists that Charlie fostered are Randy Travis, Kenny Chesney and Aaron Tippin, who all have become major Country Music artists.                Charlie continued to work in the Country Music industry in several capacities for Acuff Rose Music Publishing and ASCAP until finally he focused on his own company, 'Monk Family Music Group,' where many songwriters and artist careers were born and developed.  In recent years Charlie was hired by SiriusXM as a consultant to help develop music industry connections. But Charlie’s talent as a broadcaster lead him to begin work as the host of Willie’s Roadhouse, a radio satellite channel under Sirius XM Radio station. Until very recently, Charlie’s broadcasts could be heard seven days a week. He’s finally cut back to two days per week but Charlie’s unmistakable radio voice can still be heard on Willie’s Roadhouse. Breaking Barriers & Making History w/ Lester McClain

Episode 16 of The Hitstreak, a podcast where we talk about anything and everything!This week we talk with Lester McClain, the first African American football player to play for the University of Tennessee, about his formative years, how he set himself up to succeed, and how it felt to be added to the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame.Let us know in the comments what YOU want to hear about next!About our Guest: McClain was born in Nashville on September 17, 1949. He attended Haynes High School in Nashville for his freshman through junior years, as he was unable to attend the school closest to his home, Antioch High, because it was not racially integrated. In his senior year, McClain was allowed to attend Antioch High where he met UT alum Bill Garrett who ran the morning football practices. Garrett liked what he saw and approached Coach Dickey on McClain’s behalf. Tennessee recruited McClain primarily to be a roommate for an exceptional high school athlete named Albert Davis, who most thought would be the first to integrate UT’s football program. When Davis went elsewhere, the burden fell to McClain, and he rose to the occasion. During his three seasons at UT, McClain caught 70 passes for 1,003 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also rushed 30 times for 123 yards and two touchdowns and returned eight kickoffs for 168 yards. McClain was honored by the East Tennessee Chapter of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools Sports Hall of Fame and UT’s Athletics Hall of Fame, and he has earned the Maxwell House Sport Award. In 1987, McClain was appointed to an alumni position on UT’s Athletic Board. He has also received numerous state appointments including the Tennessee Human Rights Commission by Governor Lamar Alexander.
