Safety, Affliction, and Glory | Ben Carlson | Sermon Select
We have every reason to bless God no matter the results of the election and no matter the consequences that follow. There could be some various trials that we as a church could have to face…[but] we can have this confidence, that whatever trial we face, it is short and it is necessary. God is sovereign over these things, and this is the time to preach these things to ourselves. Preached from 1 Peter 1.
Ben Carlson is Pastor of Grace Reformed Baptist Church of Owensboro, KY. To find out more about the ministry of GRBC Owensboro, visit https://grbco.org. Or for more sermons from Pastor Ben Carlson, visit https://www.sermonaudio.com/grbcoky

Edwards on The Nature of True Virtue | Tom Nettles | The Weekly Discourse
What is true virtue? If we do not regard God as central to virtue, we have missed the point of what virtue is. If one does not have the glory of God as his chief end, what he does is not truly virtuous.
Jonathan Edwards published his Nature of True Virtue in 1765. Edwards desired to defend the Christian understanding of what virtue is, opposing the rationalist understanding which diminished divine revelation.
The next series of lectures come from Dr. Tom Nettles' course on Jonathan Edwards and Andrew Fuller, taught in January of 2020 at Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary.
The Weekly Discourse usually features a lecture which has been taken from a course at Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary.

1689 2:3 - The Father, The Son, & The Holy Spirit | Confessing the Faith
Paragraph 3 of this chapter moves to the doctrine of the Trinity. After decades and even centuries of neglect, the doctrine of the Trinity has become the focus of attention for theologians in recent decades. It is to be hoped that this interest of theologians will trickle down to ordinary Christians. The doctrine of the Trinity is of enormous practical importance to the serious Christian.

Hymn-Singing: Controversy Among the Baptized Churches | Particular Pilgrim
Should we sing in public worship? Can you defend this from a scriptural basis? What shall we sing? Should it only be psalms or scripture in meter or uninspired human compositions? How should we sing? Should it be done solo or with the whole congregation?
In the late 17th Century Hymn-singing controversy in Particular Baptist churches, these questions were vigorously taken up. They were thought to be important because it was a matter of the right worship of God. What lessons can we learn from this controversy?

1689 2:2 - God's Relation to the World & Mankind | Confessing the Faith
"Your old Sunday School teacher was wrong when she told you that God created the world because He was lonely! He does not even need creation to be God. He was the blessed and only sovereign before and without creation.
Modern men and contemporary theologians find it difficult in their minds to reconcile the classical theism of the Christian tradition and the Scriptures with a God who is relational. The fault is in their minds and logic not in classical theism."
