The Great Tribulation? | Sam Waldron | The Weekly Discourse
I have attempted to emphasize much-neglected passages which teach very clearly the growth and expansion of the church promised by Christ. It is true that there is another side to this story. There will be tribulation for the church as well. Very much depends, however, on how this tribulation is viewed and where the foundation for the idea that the church will see much trouble in this age is found.
One passage is perhaps most often identified with this aspect of the church’s prospects. That passage is Matthew 24:1-36. The Olivet Discourse of our Lord is found not only in Matthew 24, but also in Mark 13 and Luke 21. Matthew 24 has, however, been the subject of great debate. Thus, the exact nature of what it teaches about the tribulation of the church is also debated.

Optimistic Amillennialism | Sam Waldron | The Weekly Discourse
By “optimistic Amillennialism” I mean to defend the idea that the future prospects of the church are bright. That is to say, I will defend the idea that there is every reason to expect Christ’s true church to grow and prosper throughout this age. This optimistic Amillennialism is to be contrasted with Postmillennialism because it does not extend this optimism to the world at large. It does not foresee a golden age of peace, prosperity, and righteousness for the world before Jesus returns. Optimistic Amillennialism expects—not a golden age for the world, but—a global growth for the church.
