The Future Prospects of the Church | Sam Waldron | The Weekly Discourse
Few issues in eschatology are of more practical importance than the prospects of the church during the gospel age. One’s views of this subject will profoundly influence one’s attitudes, hopes and efforts for the church. This is, however, not only a highly important subject, it is also a hotly disputed subject.
Those who hold more negative views of the future prospects of the church during this age are called pessimillennialists. Those who hold more positive and optimistic views of the earthly prospects of the church are sometimes branded liberals and evolutionists. Perhaps the classic declaration of the growth and progress of the church during this age is found, however, our Lord’s Parable of the Mustard Seed.
This lecture was taken from a class taught by Dr. Sam Waldron called Questions in Eschatology. The class is available to students and auditors at Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary.
The Weekly Discourse usually features a lecture which has been taken from a course at Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary.

Edward Terrill | Particular Pilgrims
What 17th century Particular Baptist had the biggest impact on the future of the churches? Was it Benjamin Keach? Nehemiah Coxe? William Kiffin? A Good case can be made for these men and probably others. But I'd like to suggest that the man who made the largest and most long lasting impact on the future churches was Edward Terrill.
Particular Pilgrims features stories from Reformed Baptist History told by Ron Miller, Pastor of Covenant Baptist Church of Clarksville, TN and a longtime student and collector of Particular Baptist History. Pastor Miller also serves on the Board of Directors of Covenant Baptist Theological Seminary.

The Victory of Christ's War-Church | Sam Waldron | The Weekly Discourse
Throughout most of the 20th century evangelical Christians have been dominated by pessimistic views of the future of the church. The most popular study Bible through most of that century taught Christians to look forward to the apostasy of the professing church. That study Bible was born of a movement that taught Bible-believing Christians to leave their churches, gather in small fellowships, and wait for the Lord’s return. It was an axiom of its system of thought that every Dispensation ends in failure—including the Dispensation of the Church. The direct tendency of such views was to kill all enterprising zeal for the church. Why polish brass on a sinking ship?
Such views are nothing less than astonishing in light of the Lord’s teaching. Perhaps the most well-known and certainly the most foundational prediction concerning His church which the Lord ever uttered was that found in Matthew 1617-18. It shows how starkly and amazingly our Lord’s teaching contrasts with such views. It is Christ’s Prediction of the Victory of His War-Church.

1689 2:3 - The Foundation of All Our Communion with God & Comfortable Dependence Upon Him
For our Baptist forefathers the doctrine of the Trinity was anything but mysterious and difficult with little practical application to daily life. No, rather, it was crucial to our communion with God and comfort in God. No passage in all the Bible shows this so richly as 2 Corinthians 13:14: “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with you all.”
