Corey Powell is an active division 3 basketball player and a 3-year official from Long Island. Corey is also part of the Crown Refs Mentor Community and has big aspirations to go way further as a ref than as a player. ⁣ ⁣ We recently worked a few 3-person games together for the first time and had a chance to break down a few plays immediately after. This episode is all about mindset, perspective, and the importance of finding your true inner happiness. This was a recent presentation for Sara Woods and the great people from the Big Game Officials Camp in St. Louis. ⁣ ⁣ We covered 4 key traits that can lead to happiness on and off the court: Perspective, Positivity, Passion & Patience. ⁣ ⁣ •Having a healthy perspective that is grounded in gratitude will give you the emotional stability to purely appreciate every day as the blessing that it is. ⁣ ⁣ •Leading with Positivity and optimism as your centerpiece is a winning formula for success. Having an unwavering positive attitude is a superpower that can lead to so many other wonderful things in your life. ⁣ ⁣ •If you are passionate about something, that can be the fuel and the driving force that propels you to get to the next level. Passion produces effort. Consistent effort produces results. ⁣ ⁣ •Maybe the most important and difficult trait is patience. It’s no coincidence that learning patience takes a very long time. However, patience prevents pain, and frustration, and can lead to higher levels of peace and happiness. ⁣ ⁣ We know this episode will be an UNLOCK and will help at least 1 person. Jośe Carrion is a Puerto Rican legend who's officiated in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional league for the past 32 years, including the 2022 Finals. During his amazing career as a referee, he's worked in 3 Olympic games including 2004, 2008, and 2012, and has also been an NCAA-M Division 1 official since 2002. All these accomplishments for a man who's never even played a sport but has been a lifelong learner & student of the game.⁣ ⁣ In this densely packed episode, Jośe shares his love for teaching and why every official can learn by instructing others. We also cover bouncing back from failures, most memorable moments from the Olympic games, and tools he's learned from other great officials. Nick Aldiero is a Professional Skills Coach based out of Brick Twp NJ. He is the owner of Nick Aldiero Basketball LLC which focuses on helping players improve their individual skills & confidence in a group setting. Coach Aldiero trains in different gyms along the Jersey Shore.
