RAPPO & DEACS, Series 2, Episode 11 Friday, October 11 2019
The Friday Fix podcast is once again being recorded at the House of Rappo and this time again it’s thanks to mum-in-law Viv for the jacket potato!
This week there’s no excuse if we have a lot of chat on the FA Vase because there are two very tasty all Cornish clashes coming up, plus Camelford have a great chance of progressing as well.
So we hear from all of them – managers of Camelford and Saltash in Reg Hambly and Matt Cusack; while for Torpoint Athletic, it’s a man it would be difficult to beat for being passionate about his football - Ian Stephens.
Steve Massey had a chat for the Friday Fix straight after Helston’s terrific 3-1 midweek win over Mousehole while Toby Clark, back playing for Falmouth after 16 years away, joined the ever increasing group of players to speak to the podcast this season.
As well as the Vase, there’s a big Under-18 game coming up on Monday as Helston host Brockenhurst in the FA Youth Cup and we hear from the team’s two managers Stu Giles and Martin Daughtery, while as always we have our resident guests Cam Weldon and Phil Hiscox keeping us up to date with Truro City and the Kitchen Kit Ltd South West Peninsula League respectively.
Rappo has a detailed look at the St Piran Football League, as well having some good news regarding last week’s “Bet of the Week”!
As usual, get in touch by either email davedeacon@cornishsoccer.info or twitter @soccerpodcast if you have any ideas or suggestions as to what you would like to hear on the weekly podcast. CORNISH SOCCER is also on Facebook.
And remember, with a podcast you can stop choose how much to listen to at any one time and return at a convenient time later, so it’s probably helpful to subscribe to us on your favourite podcast platform so that you don’t ever miss a future episode.

RAPPO & DEACS, Series 2, Episode 10 Friday, October 4 2019
The Friday Fix podcast is once again being recorded at the House of Rappo with a late surprise – another meal thrown in by mum-in-law Viv – this week its creamy tagliatelle with bacon and mushrooms! Many thanks.
This week we hear from another newby – Launceston’s ‘keeper Josh Colwill who tells us about his disappointing Saturday; meanwhile one of our favourites - Ash Bicknall, player/manager at St Mawgan, is looking forward to the club making more history this coming Saturday; and ahead of the Saturday “Match of the Day” – Mousehole central defender Ben Williams returns to the show.
We aim to include interviews from those at the heart of Cornish football, and coach and ex-pro Jamie Day is one of those. He’s involved in the new Cornwall Under-16s who have their first competitive match on Sunday.
Naturally our resident guests Cam Weldon and Phil Hiscox keep us up to date with Truro City and the Kitchen Kit Ltd South West Peninsula League respectively.
Rappo has a detailed look at the St Piran Football League, as well as attempting to stop the terrible run on our “Bet of the Week”!

RAPPO & DEACS, Series 2, Episode 9 Friday, September 27 2019
For the third week running this recording has been produced in the House of Rappo and this week it’s the turn of mother-in-law Viv’s Roast Chicken, for us to sample, rather than interview on the show!
Instead, having the opportunity to talk football from around the county of Cornwall, we are joined by a supporter, a league secretary, two managers (of which I’m pleased to advise one is a newbie) and two players, although one of those is now resident in Australia rather than Cornwall!
Interviews from those at the heart of Cornish football, with a new manager’s name to add to our growing list of guests and friends to the Friday Fix Podcast.
As always, many thanks to our resident guests Cam Weldon (with two hats on this week) and Phil Hiscox (keeping us up to date with the Kitchen Kit Ltd South West Peninsula League).
Rappo of course runs through his weekly detailed look at the new St Piran Football League, while he is still trying to turn the corner in his form slump for our “Bet of the Week”! Think positive Rappo!

RAPPO & DEACS, Series 2, Episode 8 Friday, September 20 2019
We’re in the House Rappo again for this week’s episode. Lasagne on the go cooking while we have the opportunity to talk football from around the county of Cornwall.
Again it’s interviews from those at the heart of Cornish football and with some new names to the Friday Fix Podcast.
Top managers are on this week as St Austell’s Chris Knight and Camelford’s Reg Hambly join the cast of many to have been featured so far already this season.
Knighter of course is back in the Poltair hot-seat and doing a grand job, while Reg amazingly is in his 29thseason and still enjoying it.
It’s also a warm welcome on the Friday Fix to Martin Daughtery, co-manager of the Helston Athletic U-18s. Along with Stu Giles they start anther FA Youth Cup adventure on Tuesday as they travel to take on Street in the competition.
We also take you to Wendron to join in their celebration as the newly named “Granite Stadium of Light Underlane” gets lit up.
Completing our guest list is of course Phil Rees, who Rappo caught straight after Perranwell had played Penryn in last week’s Senior Cup. Rappo’s challenge was successfully completed as we knew it would be.
Our resident guests Cam Weldon (talking Truro City) and Phil Hiscox (keeping us up to date with the Kitchen Kit Ltd South West Peninsula League), also join us to lake it a cracking two hours of talking football in Cornwall.
Rappo of course runs through his weekly detailed look at the new St Piran Football League, this week with Senior Cup results as well, while he is still trying to turn the corner in his form slump for our “Bet of the Week” slot!

RAPPO & DEACS, Series 2, Episode 7 Friday, September 13 2019
This week’s it’s a bit different as the recording was completed at House of Rappo.
Apart from the different surroundings, the format was much the same with interviews from those at the heart of Cornish football. And of course there’s another new name for the list of interviewees we’ve had on the podcast since we started.
Many thanks to Andy Ayre for coming on. Andy is co-manager of Gerrans & St Mawes Utd, but is the heart and soul of the club and its good to hear from clubs around the county at all levels.
Along with our resident guests Cam Weldon talking Truro City and Phil Hiscox keeping us up to date with the Kitchen Kit Ltd South West Peninsula League, we speak to both managers of the amazing 3-3 draw last Saturday between Newquay and Saltash – Tony Mackellar and Mattie Cusack.
One of the other stand-out SWPL results last Saturday was the Torpoint 8-0 victory at Holsworthy and so we welcome back assistant-manager Gary Williams to the Friday Fix.
Also returning to the podcast is one half of the St Blazey’s management team Shaun Vincent who was able to give us a progress report on the Green & Blacks.
Rappo of course runs through his weekly detailed look at the new St Piran Football League as well as his “Bet of the Week”.

We’re sticking to our promise to get some more new interviewees on the podcast with another three this week!
From Dobwalls we have co-manager Ben Washam, while the other two are FA Vase goalscoring heroes. While Olly Brokenshire got the solitary but so important match winning goal for Helston up at Step 5 Keynsham Town, the other really enjoyed himself. Charlie Young scored five! And of course, anyone who is a regular listener of this podcast series will know that Charlie gets a regular mention, so we are so pleased to have at last got him on!
We have our weekly detailed look at the new St Piran Football League from Rappo, who also tells us his “Bet of the Week”.
Our resident guests are Cam Weldon talking Truro City and Phil Hiscox keeps us up to date with the Kitchen Kit Ltd South West Peninsula League.
Finally is Falmouth Town’s coach Charlie Davis, who 24 hours earlier was in San Diego!

It’s a bulging with interviews episode this week!
Last week we spoke to Andrew Bragg, the Kernow FA Director of Football with an exclusive, this week he’s back on again as he tells us they are working on a bid to stage the next CONIFA World Cup!
We’ve got loads of interviews with managers from around the county – from Penzance across the Duchy to Callington and including one with Tony Howard of Storm FC. Tony tells us how the club "was an email away from folding" but has worked towards survival and hopefully the interview gives encouragement to those currently struggling.
Rappo gives us his weekly detailed look at the new St Piran League – East and West, that’s after another sob story for his “Bet of the Week”.
As usual Cam Weldon talks Truro City and Phil Hiscox keeps us up to date with the Kitchen Kit Ltd South West Peninsula League, this week it has a FA Vase flavour.
We welcome former Truro City manager Leigh Robinson back into football as he takes on a role at Helston, while the Blues striker Mark Goldsworthy is our main man as he reaches a terrific goalscoring milestone – his 300th SWPL goal.
