Episode 545: Episode 285- Rick Franzblau- Developing a scaleable model
“Moments that impact your thought processes and systems are often failures.”“Any good model should have scaleability”This episode of The Podcast is brought to you by Exxentric, the makers of the kBox and kPulley. All others, or to learn more about the kBox, kPulley and flywheel training, please go to their website at: https://exxentric.com/.This week I had the opportunity to discuss the development of a long term athletic development model with Rick Franzblau. After a quick run down of how he got down to Clemson we discuss how longevity in one location has helped us each develop the thoughts and processes that we are trying to continue to build upon at our institutions. He then shares with us how the model that he’s working on at Clemson got started, includes what was the driving factor behind the evolutions to this model. He then shares with us a pretty in-depth breakdown of their progressions in their model, where there are some places where they individualize the program, and how different teams move at different paces. He also runs down the rabbit hole of technology, the pros and con’s of it, and the importance of the strength coach understanding what the metrics mean and how to impact them. Rick has developed an ever evolving but scaleable LTAD program, and gives some really great insight into each aspect of it that can really help each of us reflect a bit on what we are doing and possible ways to improve how we evaluate what we are doing.
