Chris discusses with us the idea of “whatever it takes” when it comes to our profession. We have to wear many hats in the field, depending on the size of your department you may have more or less than some, but we have all had to go a bit “outside the spectrum” of strength and conditioning. Chris shares with us how this idea of “whatever it takes” to help his student athletes to put them in the best possible position, not just while at the institution we work at, but in life. Episode 182- Will Greenberg, Buffalo Bills- Structure Governs Function
“Whatever you find is important, you want to emphasize that so the team can be great at that.”

This leads us into how each of his stops, and different sports, has impacted his work with The Bills. We then discuss how they handle their players in the off season, including how they “sell” what they do and what “standards” they have when they return. Episode 180- Dr. Sean Maloney, Chris Bishop, and Dr. Anthony Turner- Asymmetries, Good Bad or Indifferent?
“The best way to think about an asymmetry is your weaker limb has a bigger window of opportunity for you to develop and get stronger.”“Dominance is task specific” “When you do things out of the ordinary that’s when these imbalances can come out and grab you.”“Good quality training will naturally reduce asymmetries.”This episode of The Podcast is brought to you by Exxentric, the makers of the kBox and kPulley. All others, or to learn more about the kBox, kPulley and flywheel training, please go to their website at: https://exxentric.com/.Today we have an awesome round table with Dr. Sean Maloney, Chris Bishop, and Dr. Anthony Turner to discuss asymmetries and the role of research in where they fit in sport training. After a brief introduction we start out with Chris’s research (he’s getting his PhD now) including the what’s, why’s, and how’s he’s looking at with asymmetries in athletes. This runs us right into what Dr. Maloney has seen with his research and what he’s seeing in the gym along side it with training the athletes he gets to work with. Dr. Turner then discusses with us the statistical anomalies that occur with these asymmetries and how strength capacity is so important in looking at the difference in the limbs. We also discuss the role of functional adaptations when it comes to asymmetries in athletes, the role of the task in identifying asymmetries, the effects of competition on them, and the role in bilateral and unilateral training.
