After a run down of how he got to McKendree we roll right into the world of D2 sports, and how there are similarities and differences to both D3 and D1. This leads into a great discussion about what he feels his most important role is in the training process, any why he feels it’s so important. We then discuss the team he is a head coach for, the Powerlifting team. This includes the training and meet program, how that is set up through out the year, and how academics impact this year round sport. Guillermo’s coaching and the uniqueness of a powerlifting team is great insight into how we can work better to develop better training, and even use their “ideas” to provide better means for our athlete’s to improve. Episode 529: My Thoughts Monday #178- Jay DeMayo- Identifying Direction in Programming

Our why can also include the why to what we are doing when it comes to programming. In this weeks My Thoughts Monday I share with you a way that I’ve reevaluated how we are setting up our program, and why having a true why driving the entire program has really helped us (hopefully) improve our progressions within the GPP phase of our program.ENJOY THE CONTENT? Episode 528: My Thoughts Monday #177- Jay DeMayo- Your Focus Leads To Success or Failure

“The more you focus on things in a positive manner, the better chance you have of getting to them.”This My Thoughts Monday is brought to you by Vald Performance. Vald’s constant drive to help coaches find better information to drive more educated directions is second to none. Check out this weeks Metric Minute and make sure to go check out all their great products at: www.valdperformance.com In this weeks My Thoughts Monday I reflect on the last book I read during this round of the 75 Hard Program, and that is Andy Frisella’s book on the program, 75 Hard. In his book he has a great Q and A section where he discusses different different ways people sabotage their ability to reach their goals. This has sparked a couple new thought processes for me when it comes to developing and progressing the programs for each individual athlete. This, HOPEFULLY, will increase “buy-in” for each athlete, thus improving the results of said training program. ENJOY THE CONTENT?
