Joe Keeley: Disrupt Your Company Before Others Do

Joe Keeley is a dynamic, yet thoughtful entrepreneur and conscious leader. As such, Keeley is the CEO and Co-founder of JustiFi Technologies, a venture-backed fintech business providing payments and fintech infrastructure and strategy for vertical SaaS platforms. JustiFi exists to accelerate the potential of vertical SaaS platforms by bringing optimized embedded payments and beyond payments fintech solutions to bear resulting in increased value for the platform of 3-5X with a remarkably lower cost of ownership. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Joe Keeley discuss:What is FinTech and what can it do for your business? Disrupting yourself with FinTechMaking relationships with your customers stickier Preparing for a disruption  Key Takeaways:FinTech allows companies to be able to provide services that traditionally only banks could, like storing money or giving their customers loans to avail of their products and services. Open up your mind to the possibility of your company having FinTech potential. It’s a good way of disrupting yourself before another company can disrupt you. Embedding financial products and services into your company’s ecosystem makes your relationship with your clients and customers stronger and stickier. There’s a lot of money to be made from implementing FinTech in your business. If you want to prepare for disruption, you’ve got to think about how customers today and tomorrow would want their consumer experience to be. How would they like to interact? "By embedding financial products and services inside of one's ecosystem, you make that relationship more sticky. You're adding value to those customers, which makes you look good. It's also a defensive strategy, because you know, someone else is gonna have a harder time taking them away from you. The final kicker is, there's actually a lot of money to be made." —  Joe Keeley See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7IConnect with Joe Keeley:  Website: https://www.justifi.ai/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/joekeeley/  Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine Talla  Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. It’s about operating in excellence, manifesting everything that one’s heart desires knowing that one deserves it, can maintain it and that it’s going to create the life one wants. To get to the unconscious mind, you have to do a mind dump by consciously asking yourself questions repeatedly and getting deeper and deeper into the issue. Assessments are just tools. People change and characteristics and values are not set in stone. You’re not forever doomed to whatever a test describes you as, you have the power to change and create the life you want. Don’t focus only on the outcome, focus on the quality of the communication because that is the goal of communication. "Your conscious mind is the goal setter, your unconscious mind is the goal getter." —  Jenn Beninger See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I  Connect with Jenn Beninger:  Website: https://geniusunlocked.coach/Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/geniusunlocked_/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/geniusunlockednexusYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/GeniusUnlockedCoachingInstitute Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370  Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine Talla Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Paul’s two decades of research have taken him from the Pentagon to Fortune 50 boardrooms to the rainforest of Papua New Guinea. Along the way, he helped start several interdisciplinary fields including neuroeconomics, neuro management, and neuromarketing. He has written three general audience books and is a regular TED speaker. His newest book is Immersion: The Science of the Extraordinary and Source of Happiness.Paul is also a four-time tech entrepreneur; his current company, Immersion Neuroscience, is a software platform that allows anyone to measure what the brain loves in real-time to improve outcomes in entertainment, education and training, live events and to help people sustain emotional wellness. He frequently appears in the media in such places as Good Morning America, Dr. Phil, Fox & Friends, and ABC Evening News, and his work has been reported in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Time, The Economist, Scientific American, Fast Company, Forbes, and various podcasts. Fun fact: he is a member of the Screen Actors Guild and has created dialog for two movies. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Paul J. Zak discuss:The suite of chemicals associated with cooperationWhat is immersion? Creating an immersive culture Keeping your employees productive and satisfied  Key Takeaways:The neurological chemicals associated with the feeling of safety, purposefulness, and motivation are this suite of chemicals: oxytocin, dopamine, and serotonin. Immersion is a neurological status in which a person has an emotional commitment to what’s happening or what they’re involved in. Creating an immersive culture starts with establishing psychological safety. Then, build trust and relationships with each other. Lastly, make sure that people are clear about where the organization is at and where it’s going. Human resource is becoming very scarce. That’s why, as employers, you have to do your best to keep people working for you and to keep them productive and satisfied. You’ve got to help your employee see what is it that they love doing and put them in that position for them to be continually satisfied.  "I'm a big believer in the inverted pyramid: It's the people on the bottom who are creating value so my job as a leader is to be of service to them, to help them be more productive and to be more satisfied." —  Paul J. Christie’s modern approach is designed to be simple. You just have to choose to be 1% better every day. Christie's services include Leadership Development, Executive and Management Coaching, Co-Founder Relationship Alignment, Team Building, Communication Training, and Keynote Speaking. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Christie Garcia discuss:The power of the unconscious mind The three types of ego How to counter your own ego Growing in understanding of yourself and others Key Takeaways:The unconscious mind got you where you are and it will lead you to that next chapter where ego is going to play a role in your life, relationship, and business. Your unconscious mind impacts everything. There are three types of ego: the controller, the compiler, and the protector. Each of us typically has all three of those egos, but with one or two of them being dominant. Your ego thinks fast, it’s triggered by emotion, and when it’s triggered it becomes defensive. The way to counter this is by taking a breath, being calm, and being conscious of your mindset. Once you bring awareness to yourself, look at what’s really happening in the room and try to correct the direction of the discussion.Normalize it, get to the root, and just carry it. Don’t give yourself any judgment, but make sure to recognize that you have ownership. Then, you are able to empathize with other perspectives around the situation. "Normalize it, get to the root, then now just carry it. Once you have a level of self awareness and ownership, you can get really curious as to why do [you] do that.  That's how you uncover those belief systems and mindset." —  Christie Garcia See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I  Connect with Christie Garcia:  Website: www.mindfulchoiceacademy.comInstagram: https://instagram.com/mindfulchoice_Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mindfulchoiceLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/christiegarcia/ Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370  Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine Talla Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Simon Severino: The Myths And Tips About Strategy

Simon Severino helps business owners in SaaS and Services run their company more effectively which results in sales that soar. Trusted by Google, Roche, Consilience Ventures, Amgen, AbbVie. He created the Strategy Sprints™ Method that doubles revenue in 90 days by getting owners out of the weeds. TEDx speaker, Contributor to Forbes and Entrepreneur Magazine, member of the SVBS Silicon Valley Blockchain Society. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Simon Severino discuss:What is a strategy sprint? The difference between planning and strategy Looking at the whole picture when strategizing The three things that are in your control  Key Takeaways:A strategy sprint is about creating a habit of executing based on information that you’ve gathered and doing it better each time. It’s not about planning, it’s about building. The difference between planning and strategy is that planning is a list of activities while strategy is an assumption of how you are going to win the game. When working on strategy, you’ve got to look at the organization as a whole and not only at one area. In sports, you’ve got to improve both your offense and defense if you want to win the game. The same is true for companies. You have no control over most of your business and what happens to it. What you do have control of is your response, how you allocate your time and attention, and how you re-budget.  "The difference between planning and strategy planning is a list of activities, but strategy is an assumption [of] ‘this is how we are going to win the game’." —  Simon Severino See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I  Connect with Simon Severino:  Website: https://www.strategysprints.com/Twitter: https://twitter.com/strategysprintsInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/strategysprints/Book: https://www.amazon.com/Strategy-Sprints-Accelerate-Growth-Business/dp/139860349XLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/simonseverino/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCnSFgJd0CrsEdQdO21txR2APodcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/strategy-sprints/id1299008831 Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370  Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine Talla Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Hadi Radwan: How To Promote Intuition And Teamwork In Virtual Environments

Hadi Radwan is a serial entrepreneur, venture builder, and insurtech expert. He is the Co-Founder of Asteya, an insurance company that aims to make income insurance accessible to everyone regardless of gender, income, or age.Hadi has over 15 years of experience in managing, creating, and developing growth strategies for start-ups and large organizations. As a venture builder, Hadi specializes in new market entry, multiple discipline leadership roles, growth hacking, and capital raising. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Hadi Radwan discuss:Focusing on finding the right people Making your customers and investors happyAutomation and collaboration Communication in virtual spaces Key Takeaways:In service-based businesses like insurance, your most important asset is the people working for you. When you focus on finding the right people, they’ll get the right product to the right people. The three pieces of the puzzle in business are customers, investors, and employees. The most critical piece to the puzzle is the employees as they are the link that will make both the customers and the investors happy. Automation and collaboration are the keys to staying efficient in a virtual environment. Determine which tasks are more appropriate for automation and which will be made more efficient through collaboration. The intuitive side of communication is held back in virtual meetings. Without seeing the body language, so much is lost in the message and the probability of being misunderstood becomes higher.  "We focus more on finding the right people and hopefully the right people will get the right product to the right customer." —  Hadi Radwan See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I  Connect with Hadi Radwan:  Website: https://www.asteya.world/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/hadiradwan/ Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370  Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine Talla Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Yaro Starak: End Email Overwhelm: Stop Using Your Inbox As A To-Do List That Controls Your Life

Yaro is the co-founder of InboxDone.com, an email management company with a team of 45+ serving clients including restaurant owners, venture capitalists, accountants, doctors, lawyers, real estate agents, car retailers, online coaches and more. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Yaro Starak discuss:The problem with Email Automation and delegation How to break the addiction to email Staying in your zone of genius  Key Takeaways:The problem with email is that they take away time from doing important things while making you feel like you are accomplishing stuff. It takes away your attention from your main agenda for the day. The two key components to making a more efficient business and boosting your growth are to automate through technology and to make sure you are delegating to other people. Email is an addiction, break it by setting a measurable goal and making email the reward. An example would be to write 2000 words before checking your inbox. Do a brain dump and itemize all the tasks you’re doing now and tasks that you should do. Put a circle around the ones that you can do and then put all the things you’re not going to do into a “to-delegate list”.  "You don't manufacture time, it's an exchange, something has to go for you to get time back.  And I learned very early on that the only way I can get some time back was to start handing over tasks to people." —  Yaro Starak See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I  Connect with Yaro Starak:  Website: https://InboxDone.comLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/yarostarak/    Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370  Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine Talla Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Adam Alfia: Disrupting the CX Industry with Real Time Feedback

Our guest today is Adam Alfia, a serial entrepreneur, and the Founder & Managing Director at Real Time Feedback. Real Time Feedback is an award-winning customer engagement platform that allows customers & employees in your stores/venues to easily & instantly communicate with management. By using smart QR codes, customers/guests & employees can easily let management know not only about issues and concerns as they happen, but also about employee accolades as well as recognition. Adam is a customer service aficionado and can’t stand when companies deliver a sub-par experience. He hopes that Real Time Feedback will help companies learn more about customer experiences as they happen and give them a chance to correct the issues. Adam Alfia graduated from SMU in only 2.5 years on an academic scholarship and started a European auto repair shop, motivated by a business plan project assigned by his professor. Within five years, he expanded the auto repair facility to four locations and sold them all in 2005 for $7.5m.In 2010 Adam secured a national contract with Infiniti, the auto manufacturer, to include the personal assistant service on every vehicle they sell. Since then, his company Maestro has grown to include Nissan, Infiniti, Mitsubishi, and Subaru. Along the way, Adam has launched a successful chain of restaurants called Shell Shack. Adam has 6 kids and has been involved in over 25 businesses thus far. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Adam Alfia discuss:What customers want from giving feedback Why it’s important to act upon people’s feedback The two benefits of making feedback accessibleDon’t be afraid of asking for feedback  Key Takeaways:Consumers rarely ever get something in return for sharing information based on their experience. What they really want is for somebody to respond immediately when they give feedback. The customer experience would be absurd when they see the feedback they submitted immediately realized in the establishment. Seeing their feedback come to life will make the customer feel heard and cared for. When you have immediate feedback freely available in the area of your business, there are two benefits. If it’s positive feedback, you can turn that into a google review and if it’s negative feedback, then you can catch that review and respond accordingly before it turns into a bad review. Don’t be afraid of asking for feedback. It’s better to hear it and be hurt in the present than to keep going forward unaware of what is eventually going to cause your business’s downfall.   "Not only does the customer have something to say that they want a response, they want a response now." —  Adam Alfia See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I  Connect with Adam Alfia:  Website: https://www.realtimefeedback.com/Twitter: http://www.Twitter.com/GetFeedbackNowFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/GiveFeedbackNow/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/adamalfia/ | https://www.linkedin.com/company/real-timefeedback/YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaadnwAH1Q9U2pq5r3iapnQ Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370  Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine Talla Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions. Andy McDowell: Breaking the Habit of Fear to Create Connection and Creativity

Andy McDowell is an engineer by trade and creative by nature. He is the founder of the entrepreneurial, and small business coaching and consulting firm, Generate Your Value, and is the co-host of The Generate Your Value Podcast. Andy spent 22 years with the Boeing Company, where he always felt more like a life coach than a boss. In 2002, he began his journey into entrepreneurship within a corporation when he was asked to develop an Airspace Design Consulting business from scratch that would serve the global government market. Andy has a Bachelor’s Degree from Georgia Tech in Electrical Engineering and a Master’s Degree in Computer Information Systems from Georgia State. Naturally, his aviation work took him around the world and enabled him to work on high-profile projects - such as preparing the Beijing and Sochi Airports for their respective Olympic Games. Andy would love to have a conversation with you about how he might be able to use his strategic skills developed from his years with the Boeing Company, to generate value in your personal and professional life. He has a keen sense for applying business concepts to life coaching, and life coaching concepts into business. In this episode, Dean Newlund and Andy McDowell discuss:Why love is necessary for a team Intention and mindset Becoming self-aware of fear habits An atmosphere of emotional safety Key Takeaways:Love is the fuel for creativity and connectedness and therefore, teamwork. You have to at least respect people, acknowledge people, and meet them where they are at. Set a direction in your own life and open your mind to new experiences. Fuel your journey with love and have a mindset that focuses on growth. We have habits of fear that are deeply embedded within us because of the experiences that we had in the past. We must bring awareness into those deep things about ourselves so that we don’t transfer any anger or fear to other people. You need to cultivate an atmosphere of safety where people can talk honestly about what they feel. People will be encouraged to open up when leaders make an effort to reach out.  "Number one job of a leader is to build other leaders even if that means just to help them be a leader of themselves in their life." —  Andy McDowell See Dean’s TedTalk “Why Business Needs Intuition” here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEq9IYvgV7I  Connect with Andy McDowell:  Website: http://www.generateyourvalue.com/Email: andy@generateyourvalue.comFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/genyourvaluePodcast: https://www.generateyourvalue.com/copy-of-podcast Connect with Dean:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgqRK8GC8jBIFYPmECUCMkwWebsite: https://www.mfileadership.com/The Mission Statement E-Newsletter: https://www.mfileadership.com/blog/LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/deannewlund/Twitter: https://twitter.com/deannewlundFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/MissionFacilitators/Email: dean.newlund@mfileadership.comPhone: 1-800-926-7370  Show notes by Podcastologist: Justine Talla Audio production by Turnkey Podcast Productions.
