Sometimes it can be so easy to walk through life discouraged and feeling alone. Even with the best intentions and resolutions, we often find ourselves back to old patterns and habits when we try to change. Sometimes what we need most is a word of encouragement to simply keep going. It’s almost like someone throwing a life preserver to us just when we feel like we’re drowning. Maybe we just need a simple reminder in 2022: Don’t Give Up.

During this time of year, people all over the world turn on their favorite Christmas movies as a way to enjoy the season. Christmas movies are nostalgic, funny, and they remind us, through our favorite characters, that Christmas is so much more than decorations and presents under the tree. This year at Hope, we will go on a journey through Advent, but with an all new twist! Join us for Christmas at the Movies. 

Many of the church traditions we hold today have been around for over 2,000 years. What do we really know about the origins and theology of the Apostle’s Creed, baptism, communion, penance and ancient prayers? Should we continue in these traditions, or let them remain in the past?

We are all devoted to something. Our jobs, our kids, our favorite team, our bank accounts... the list is endless. However, Jesus calls us as Christ followers to be devoted to Him. To His teachings. To His ways. And the early church disciples found a great recipe to help us navigate the pathway of life as a Christian... so the question is not, "WHAT do we do?", but rather, "Are we DEVOTED to it?"

We live in a broken and imperfect world filled with broken and imperfect people. There is beauty, but there is also pain. It’s no surprise that when people enter into relationship with one another, we experience and sometimes even create more pressure and pain in our lives. The challenge of this 4 week sermon series is to get us to consider how God can use pressure and even pain to produce perseverance and purpose in our lives.

When it comes to gratitude, it's not enough to feel it. You’ve got to express it! What do you need to express gratitude to God for? Who do you owe a debt of gratitude to?
