Chasing Newness

This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, we embrace the idea of Chasing Newness. As humans we are all pulled towards new experiences, new things, new people, or new adventures (granted- some us us more than others). But how do we know when this draw has become an unhealthy compulsion? How capable are we of finding that line between our own instinctual need to personally evolve, and also recognize when this behavior is a sign of avoidance? We start with Ten of Pentacles and The Sun, touch on all the Aces, The Hanged Man, Three of Swords, and talk A LOT about Temperance- while also getting into some old school psychological theory to help us make sense of it all. Join of for this surprising and relatable conversation. Decks used: The Dreamkeeper's Tarot and Aquarian Tarot If you love The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, please be sure to hit those 5 stars and write us a review on whatever platform you listen to us on. Finding Your Voice

Finding Your Voice is the idea we dive into this week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, and as we expected, it turns out this is a complex and rich idea to explore. Our starter cards of Six of Swords and Knight of Pentacles felt really challenging at first, but as we sank deeper and deeper into the discussion, and unpacked Eight of Swords, The Moon, Seven of Cups, and seemingly alllll of the court cards, we came to love those first initial card pulls as incredible guides for this topic. Come listen in and explore ways to find and strengthen your own voice. In other news… We are going LIVE on Instagram Tuesday September 13th at 9:00pm EST. Come join us as we pull cards and talk about tarot, life, and our monthly Symposium topic - Tarot & Money Work. Speaking of, if Tarot & Money Work is a topic you are particularly interested in, it’s not too late to join The Symposium, where we will be offering a live workshop in a more intimate setting this coming Thursday, September 15th at 7:00pm EST It’s going to be a good one! Money's Impact on Relationships

This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, we enter the slightly taboo world of money work by asking about Money’s Impact on Relationships. We make quick work of unpacking how tightly linked our personal relationship with money is with our relationships with others - be that our partners, our family, our friends, or our community. And we discover that there are no easy answers here, but we do discover that this is a topic well worth talking about. Travel with us, from Rx Eight of Cups (that Shannon accidentally kept calling Ace of Swords – oops) and Page of Cups, through Ten of Wands, Eight of Swords, and Nine of Pentacles, to eventually finding some clarity with Four of Wands and The Star. We also share some real life money stories and issues that play out in our own lives. If you are a person who uses money and has relationships, this is for you (aka- this is a good episode for everyone). If you want to go deeper into this topic, join us in The Symposium, where the entire month of September is dedicated to Tarot and Money work. Am I a Good Person?

This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, we tackle the age old question, what does it mean to be a good person? Or perhaps more importantly, "Am I a good person?" We begin with The High Priestess and end with the Queen of Cups. Along the way spend time with (weirdly) a whole bunch of pentacles. We also geek out on some psychological theory and get into not only how we might define a good person, but also why it’s important to us as humans. No matter how you feel about yourself, this is a fascinating conversation that you’re not going to want to miss. We’re wrapping up our month-long exploration in The Symposium on the idea of Depression vs. Burnout. It’s been an incredible month, including a fantastic workshop and meetup. In September, we’re going to be tackling the issue of Tarot and Money Work. We’re really excited because we think that we’re coming at this topic from a very different approach. If you’re not a member of The Symposium, now might be the perfect time to join! You’ll even have access the almost a years worth of Symposium content! The Art of Unlearning

This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, we decide to get creative and talk about The Art of Unlearning. In the spirit of this topic, we began this episode not entirely sure what direction we were going to go. We were surprised to discover all of the twists and turns we came across along the way, including how much this topic related both to therapy and tarot. Get your Page energy ready and join us in this week’s episode where we explore all the cups and spend some quality time with Two of Swords. Also! Our monthly theme in The Symposium for September is Tarot and Money Work. As therapists, we’re really looking forward to approaching this topic from a slightly different perspective. If you’re not a member already, click here to join before September 1st to make sure you’re part of this month-long journey into Tarot and Money Work! Hustle Culture

In this week’s episode of The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, we get down to business in talking about a subject near, but not-so-dear to our hearts: Hustle Culture. It’s unavoidable in today’s world to go untouched by the draw and push to engage in hustle culture. So, we wanted to step back and ask ourselves (and tarot), what is this really all about?  We started with Judgment and Knight of Wands. The cards went flying from there. Join us for this frank, and in many ways, highly personal episode as we try to unpack what hustle culture is, and how we can best respond to it. Tarot for FOMO

This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, we talked about a topic you are definitely not going to want to miss (small joke intended)- FOMO, or Fear of Missing Out. This is a phenomenon everybody has experienced at least once or twice in their life. The strong sensation that somehow, we are being left out of something, or missing something very important, And it makes us a uncomfortable to think about it. Shoutout to our Symposium members for inspiring this episode! Listen in as we get real about FOMO, while pulling all of the cups and the swords. There’s a couple real gems in this episode so you really don’t want to miss out ;-) Decks Used: Spacious Tarot & Tarot Vintage If you love The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, please be sure to hit those 5 stars and write us a review on whatever platform you listen to us on. Starting Over {Truths & Myths}

This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast we get into the a topic that feels really pertinent right now: Starting Over. It’s not just in our own lives (although- for sure it is), this also seems to be an idea that is circulating a lot in our collective communities right now. There seems to be a pull towards it being time to scrap what we have and begin again. Sometimes we go into this idea kicking and screaming. Other times, it’s more of a dream or desire we have, but in the end, many of us are feeling it. Lots of Swords make an appearance this episode - but The Ace of Cups steals the show. Join us for this lively conversation about the pros and cons, pitfalls and salvations in the process of staring over. It’s a good one! The Edges of Synchronicity

This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, we decide to have a little fun with the concept of… synchronicity. This is an idea originally discussed by Carl Jung to describe the phenomenon of when a random event happens that seems to be filled with meaning - so much so that we feel a little blown away. As therapists who love tarot cards, we find this idea fascinating, and love trying to walk the very thin line of the reality of the inexplicable, and the realities of magical thinking. We start off with Two of Wands and Eight of Swords, and then go on a fascinating journey, bringing us through Page of Cups, The Hanged Man, The Lovers and Two of Cups and, of course, The Fool. You won’t want to miss this super nerdy, totally surprising, and story-filled episode.  Decks Used: Hush Tarot Gilded Tarot If you love The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, please be sure to hit those 5 stars and write us a review on whatever platform you listen to us on. Why Do We Blame? {Cognitive Distortions}

This week on The Tarot Diagnosis Podcast, we realized that we’ve been doing a series unintentionally. So, we decided to start doing it on purpose. In our episode last week, we started talking about the idea of cognitive distortions - which are habitual thought patterns that people commonly fall into that distort reality. There are a ton of different cognitive distortions that we as therapists can identify, including: black and white thinking, generalizing, labeling, magical thinking, catastrophizing, personalizing, and mind reading. We’ve already talked about catastrophizing in our episode “Dumpster Fire Season," and did an episode called “Magical Thinking.” This week, we decided to make this series official and tackle the congestive distortion of blaming. We’ve all engaged in blaming behaviors - and honestly, we all probably will continue, at least a bit from time to time. But as soon as we pulled Rx Hermit and Judgment cards, we knew we were in for one hell of a conversation and we get real about how this shows up in our own lives. Join us as we move though the Three of Swords and The Devil, spend time with Ace of Swords, both upright and try to find the balance between Queen of Swords and Queen of Cups.
