602: Where did you learn character, morality and ethics?

Zig Ziglar asks a question that is gigantic, “What makes a person successful?” His message is from on stage and he actually asks a live audience and lists down their responses. And from it of course, makes a dramatic point. You’ll have to listen to the show to find out what it is! But from the message I posted on Facebook, this question., “Where did you learn about…character? Morality? Ethics? The greatest values in life that school doesn’t teach?” And if you have a story about a time when you were not well schooled in these areas and incurred challenges as a result, please share.” The amount of responses put it in the top five, so we obviously hit a nerve. Tom Ziglar and I talked through a lot of them! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

601: Less stress and more restoration - Habits with Chalene Johnson

Back with Chalene Johnson, our guest from show 599. This time we walk through her healthy habits in the 7 spokes of The Ziglar Wheel of Life. Chalene is one of the top influencers in the health and wellness arena and holds the Guiness Book of World Records...record, for starring in the most fitness videos of anyone on planet earth. That’s a lot of exercise and sweat in front of a camera...while smiling. But in this show, What you’ll find of interest is that she, the queen of fitness, had to deal with a major decline in her health. You’ll hear why, and how she changed to deal with it. It’s what led her to develop her 131method.com approach to individualized diets. Not a temporary diet though, a diet for life, specifically engineered for you. But it’s about much more than nutrition and physical wellness, Chalene is out to inspire people’s true performance, just like Zig Ziglar.  In this show  I appreciated Chalene divulging she’s an “outgoing introvert”, and her statement that in our pursuits and endeavors, we seldom stop to ask ourselves how we want the initiative to make us feel? How do we want to feel as a result? That perspective really wowed me, as you’ll hear in our talk. It was a fun and significant conversation you’ll want to hear. Again, I really encourage you to check out 131method.com for Chalene’s new offering. Of course you can connect with her and all she’s doing at chalenejohnson.com. Learn more about your ad choices. 600: Getting ourselves to change

Change. That’s our topic in this show. We hear a message from...Zig Ziglar. He’s talking about making personal change, and the great challenge it is. And that it requires us to do things differently, or do different things, if we ever want to get different results. From his message I posted this question on Facebook, “Change is hard and procrastination is powerful. Please tell us about something that happened in your life that caused you to change or increase your performance.” There were many comments specifically on dealing with procrastination. Tom Ziglar and I shared some of our own experiences, and read through and discussed many comments. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

599: Chalene Johnson - mastering how you do it

Here is a lady who has two top podcasts in two different categories, health and business. And let me make an admission up front, I was expecting a hard charging, authoritative personality. I personally vet the guests we have on the Ziglar show, but occasionally I’ll get a strong recommendation from someone for a guest and end up talking with them when I don’t have a lot of personal exposure with them. Well, Chalene Johnson exceeded my expectations. Truly. She’s incredibly down to earth and authentic and what I found was it’s the reason she has such massive influence. We recorded the main interview in about an hour and our Habits interview in about 30 minutes. Then...we continued talking about mutual interests and experiences amidst health and wellness and personal development for another hour and half. Chalene is a giant in the health and wellness industry. She’s had over 20 million downloads of her podcasts, is the NY Times bestselling author of the book PUSH.  Tens of millions of people around the globe have transformed their bodies and their lives with her help, and her fitness programs have been featured in gyms and on TV for more than 12 years. Check this out, she holds he Guiness Book World Record for having starred in the most...fitness videos. Chalene has designed several number-one ranked fitness and diet programs for industry giants, including Beachbody, the creators of p90x, Insanity, Turbo Jam and more. But this is really interesting. Several years ago, Chalene began to suffer a steady decline in her health that included debilitating brain fog, mood swings, and chronic pain and injuries. This led her to question the diet and fitness industries’ definition of health. She taught herself to read scientific studies, as well as how to search for, find, question, and evaluate research. The story just begins there...it’s a massively intriguing show. Towards the end of the show you’ll hear us talk about a brand new program she’s launched that I am a fan of. It’s at 131method.com and she’s out to debunk dieting and the idea there is any one program that fits everyone. I’m in 100% agreement. It’s a very personal strategy and she helps with this at 131 method. Join chalene at 131method.com for your own health progress journey. 598: Who do you want to save?

A classic message from Zig Ziglar, an analogy he didn’t write, but he shared in such a tangible, profound way. It’s actually been used prolifically as the story of the sand dollar, and also with a starfish. As you’ll hear, Zig’s version uses the sand dollar. It’s a message that balances seeming futility with...salvation. You may well know the story, and that’s ok. Few deliver it like Zig, but the point is...dramatic. From the message, I posted this question on Facebook, “For those who truly view their work as their mission, who specifically are you devoted to saving, and how?” I’ll disclose right up front, I received far less than half the number of responses I’m used to. Why? I can’t say for sure. My inclination that i talk about in the show with Tom, is that many people don’t have an answer to this question. There were some great replies and Tom and I talked through a number of them, but we also had some in depth discussion on the topics of serving, purpose and finding fulfillment in work. I truly think you’ll get much out of this show. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

597: Ed DeCosta says your habits create you.

Back with executive coach Ed DeCosta, our guest in show 591. This time we go behind the scenes to get his personal habits for success, following the seven spokes on the Ziglar Wheel of Life. I really appreciated his statement of “we create habits and they create us”. I’ve repeated that multiples times since our conversation. As a refresher,  Ed DeCosta, an author and executive coach who works with a lot of C level executives, giving them a safe place to talk about their...gremlins. The fears and insecurities and limiting issues in their own psyche. This gives him profound insights into real life issues that hold people, even those top performers, back. It’s incredibly eye opening folks. Ed has a great offering with his Ascend Coach's Toolkit you can find at http://eddecosta.com/act/ Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

596: Do problems or goals motivate you?

We are discussing a very relevant paradigm shift on the topic of goals. Chances are you’ve had “goals” pounded into you for many years. And the term goals may or may not inspire you...and due to that, you may even feel guilty for not being motivated to have, set and focus on...goals. Sounds blasphemous coming from The Ziglar Show, the veritable kingdom of goals! Isn’t that a primary term Zig Ziglar is known for? Yes, it is. But what you’ll hear in this show is that the point of goals is getting to an end result. And the truth is, more people are motivated by...solving problems.  It’s not mere semantics or a play with words, it’s truly foundational regarding how you set your course and achieve...anything. We kick off with a four minute clip from...Tom Ziglar! This was derived from a discussion I had with him and he was talking about this aspect of “goal” driven or “problem” driven. I had never heard it this way and really resonated with the concept, and said we needed to do a show on it. So here it is. From Tom’s four minute message I posted this question on Facebook, “ “Are you more motivated by achieving goals, or solving problems?" We got a boat load of responses, and they lined up precisely to the percentage Tom shares in his message regarding how many of us are goal or problem driven, it was amazing. Tom and I talked through a number of them. You’ll want to join us in this show.  Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

594: How do you treat yourself like a high performer?

A short message from Zig Zigalr where he asks the question, “If you owned a million dollar race horse, would you keep it up half the night, giving it booze, cigarettes and junk food? And if you did, how many races would it win? Would you treat your dog or cat that way? What about...yourself. It’s a short, hard hitting message. From it we asked on Facebook, this question, “What are three key ways you take good care of your physical and mental well-being, treating yourself like a high-valued performer?" We got a truck load of responses. Tom Ziglar shared our own “keys” and read through a lot of responses. On that note, I invite you to join these weekly discussions, come friend me on Facebook at agentkmiller.com. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
