1,751 Not Centralization: Command and Control

Dom Beveridge's latest article from June 6, 2024, challenges traditional thinking. For over 15 years, I've championed centralization, but today, I believe it's all about operational design driven by efficiency. Centralization vs. Operational Design: Centralization implies command and control by a few, but the modern approach should emphasize operational design and efficiency. Triage and Dispatch: The core of efficient operations is organizing tasks through command and control. AI Integration: Prepare for AI to revolutionize our workflows, taking over the role of directing daily tasks from humans. Let's rethink and redesign our multifamily operations for greater efficiency. 1,750 The Future Resume

Let's talk about your future resume. Sounds fascinating, right? I recently watched an interview with Jesse from the Savannah Bananas baseball team, and he shared some profound insights into their hiring process that align perfectly with their core value of growth. For those who don't know, the Savannah Bananas, based in Savannah, Georgia, are a wildly popular baseball team known for their unique approach to the game and fan engagement. Jesse dresses in a yellow tuxedo daily and has taken this innovative spirit into their hiring process. Here's the standout part: To join the Savannah Bananas, candidates must submit a video showcasing their personality, write a "fans first" essay about enhancing the fan experience, and provide a future resume. This future resume outlines what they expect to achieve five years down the line. If a candidate's future resume only shows they will still be with the organization without highlighting significant growth, they're not considered a fit. This concept of a future resume is profound in its simplicity. It forces candidates to think ahead and align their personal growth with the organization's values. I find this idea incredibly powerful and plan to incorporate it into my next venture. By focusing on forward-looking achievements, we can ensure that new hires are not just a fit for today but are poised for explosive growth within our organizations. 1,749 Training is for Animals

Have you ever thought about the difference between training and coaching? I was watching an interview with Jesse, the founder and CEO of the Savannah Bananas baseball team, and he made a bold statement: "Training is for dogs." He believes in coaching, mentoring, and teaching instead. This got me thinking about how we approach employee development in the multifamily and PropTech industries. Should we reimagine training as coaching? I’ll explore why this mindset shift could change our industry practices in this video. Focusing on coaching and mentoring can foster a more supportive and effective learning environment. Whether you're in real estate, multifamily management, or PropTech, this concept can change the way you grow your teams and businesses. 1,748 Don't Try to Fix People

Today's episode is brought to you by TheGurantors. Chasing down residents who don't pay their rent is taxing enough. Did you know you could offset the risk of renter default? Meet TheGuarantors. They’ll requalify your applicants and insure their rent. If the resident doesn't pay, you still get paid. www.TheGuarantors.com/Multifamily today! Remember Coldplay's song "Fix You"? It’s a reminder, don’t try to fix people in life and leadership. People don’t want to be seen as broken at work or in their personal life. They want guidance, not fixing. Here’s why: Resistance and Defensiveness: When you try to fix people, they often become resistant and defensive. This creates a barrier to communication and growth and can even damage relationships. Empowering Self-Discovery: Instead of fixing, be a guide. Help others find their own solutions by asking questions and offering support. Don’t impose solutions; instead, facilitate self-discovery. This leads to lasting change because it empowers them to take ownership of their growth. Authentic Support: Genuine guidance helps people feel supported and valued. It’s not about manipulation but authentically helping others navigate their challenges and find their path. By shifting from fixing to guiding, you can foster an environment where people feel empowered to grow and succeed on their own terms. 1,747 Self Imposed Limitations

This episode is brought to you by Widewail. The team at Widewail has one more Voice of the Resident live event for you. This is it, the last one. On June 6th, at 3 p.m. EST, they’ll discuss everything resident reviews have to teach us about retention trends. The 45-minute live session will be based on research from 400,000 Google reviews, providing data-backed answers to common questions: Does investing in parking reduce turnover? If our amenities don’t meet expectations, does that cause renewal problems? We know maintenance impacts retention. But by exactly how much? Widewail identified the trends driving positive and negative retention outcomes using AI topic and sentiment analysis. Sign up at widewail.com/data. That’s Thursday, June 6th at 3pm. www.widewail.com/data Did you know that many limits in your life are self-imposed? You might say, "I'm not good at marketing," or "I can't remember people's names." These statements create boundaries that hold you back. Let’s challenge that mindset today! Recognize: Acknowledge that negative self-talk is setting these limits. Realizing this is the first step towards shedding these constraints and living a fuller life. Positive self-talk can transform your self-perception and your interactions with others. Challenge: When you catch yourself saying, "I'm not good at marketing," stop and challenge that belief. Embrace the idea that you have untapped potential and talents waiting to be discovered. Lean into the opportunity and engage fully. Adapt: Replace negative statements with positive affirmations. Instead of "I'm not good at marketing," say, "I have the potential to excel at marketing." Seize opportunities to practice and improve, turning these affirmations into reality. Embrace these three steps to break free from self-imposed limitations and unlock your true potential.
