John 18, John 19 ,Luke 23, & Matthew 27  (EASTER PART 2) Parents, today we are going to be talking about the cross. I respect each families ages/ stages life so I have adapted some of this. Please go back and read the scriptures listed including what is appropriate for your family.  I will be talking about topics which you may not wish to discuss yet so please listen to this beforehand. We have done a younger version of this story which can be found on episode #96 called “he is Risen.” If you feel that is a better fit, please go listen to # 96 and save this one for when the time is right.  In today's story, we hear Jesus speaking with Pilate.  Pilate thought he was in control but Jesus reminds him of the truth. We are comforted remembering Jesus is always in control even when things can seem scary or confusing. We end w/ Jesus' death on the cross. The story connects the dots that Jesus' love doesn’t change or depend on what you do. Matthew 26 :36-56  Today begins our Easter series! I want to respect each listener's ages and levels of understanding, so I have adapted some of these for the needs of our audience. Please go back and read the scriptures yourselves to include what is appropriate for your family.  I will also encourage you to listen to all of the episodes in this Easter series in order, as the stories build upon themselves. This story begins in the garden of Gethsemane and ends with Jesus being arrested. We remember that Jesus could have whispered 1 word and 100’s of angels would have appeared to rescue him BUT he didn’t do this. Why? Because He chose to. He chose to obey God b/c he loves God the father!!!! God’s plan had been there all along to rescue us b/c he loves us that much! Mark 5:35-43 This is part 2 in our short series. If you missed #184, please go back and listen so you understand the context better. Today, we hear Jesus going to the home of Jairus to heal his very sick girl. It seems like Jesus is too late but his timing is perfect even if it doesn't make sense to us.  We are reminded that Jesus sees all and knows all. Jesus does heal the child and lovingly calls her "little girl." We are reminded that we have a loving, protective, and kind Father in Jesus. We too are his little children.   Thanks for listening! Mark 5:21-34 In our story, Jesus asks who touched me. This seems like a silly question b/c Jesus knows everything. He has numbered the hairs on our head, He knows what you had for breakfast, and He knows what you are going to do tomorrow. He knows everything about everyone! John 3:2, 16-19, 1John 3:1, & 1John 4:19 All of our readings have something in common....they speak of God's love for us. We are reminded of God's promises that hold true even when we do not feel it. The kids think about what having a bad day feels like and we discuss how feelings are important but sometimes, they can trick us to forget the truth. This is where we turn to our Bibles and remind ourselves the truth of just how much God loves us regardless of if the day we are having feels like a good one or a bad one.  Thanks for listening! Luke 4:1-13  This week we will learn a different lesson from Jesus being tempted in the desert. This is part 2. We hear the crafty devil tempting Jesus with power & fame. Jesus doesn’t fall for the lie. He knows true joy and happiness comes through God not things or status. He knows serving God is more important than power and fame. The kids will be reminded that God made all kinds of good things we get to enjoy, but the problem comes when we want to have that thing way more than we want to love and worship God.
