Luke 22:42 & 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 We are doing something different for this episode. We will hear a short scripture from our bible and then listen to an imaginary story about Molly and Will to help us understand the scripture. Molly & Will just read our scripture AND you’ll hear they both experience the same exact day.  Will they react the same way to their day though? Today's story reminds us that God is not upset when pray for him change the situation. We look at Jesus as our example who prayed to his Father in Luke 22  " If you are willing, remove this cup from me. Yet not my will, but yours be done." God wants us to pray about anything and everything but Jesus is also our example that we must trust Him even if the situation does not change. Can we trust Him? You sure can.  Psalm 100, Philippians 4:4-6 , Colossians 4:2, & Ephesians 6:10-18 This month we are continuing to talk about gratitude, being thankful. We hear the Bible whisper over and over again to give God thanks. Being thankful is like a powerful weapon to combat greed, anxiety, and our enemy. We hear how Satan told a lie in the Garden and he is still trying to trick us w/ his lies today. To combat this, we learn to use the Truth..that there is already so much we have to be thankful for. When we choose to see the wonderful things , we realize we already have so much to be thankful for..and being thankful, it’s like kicking the enemy in the teeth.  It protects our hearts & how we feel. We will recall similar ways He provided earlier in Exodus and how He told them to keep items to help their descendants remember. Last time it was a jar of manna and this time, it's something different. God knows we are prone to forget and He wants us to give ourselves and the next generation, reminders of how faithful He is. We hear what the Israelites used for their reminders and discuss what we have in our own lives that serve as reminders of God's faithfullness.   Thanks for tuning in. God reminds them over and over again to not be afraid... that HE will be with them wherever they go. The people prepare to enter Jericho but 2 spies assess the land first and they receive help from Rahab. Rahab has heard of God's mighty works and offers to help them. We apply the truth that God is  with us too; even on those sad or frustrating days, God is with us!  We can be encouraged as Joshua was.  Thanks for tuning in. If you’ve missed the Exodus series, I’d highly recommend you go back and listen as they build upon each other.  Today we get to hear what the people did while Moses was receiving the 10 commandments, hear the spies check out the promised land, and learn how Joshua and Caleb clung to God's promises. We hear them walk by faith and not by sight. We will hear that the unbelieving generation doesn't get to enter the promised land and how it will be their children who will enjoy the land flowing with milk and honey which God promised to them. The kids will apply God's promises to their own lives and think about which promises are easy to see and which are harder to see. The story connects the dots that we can trust God's promises, like Caleb and Joshua did, even when it can be hard. Thanks for tuning in.
