Jeremy Wrathall, founder, and CEO of Cornish Lithium, who is a pioneering mineral exploration and development company focused on the environmentally responsible extraction of lithium from geothermal waters and hard rock in the historic mining district of Cornwall, UK Jeremy has over 30 years of experience in the mining, finance, and investment banking industry and has advised mining companies on transactions globally on all of the world’s major mining exchanges. A Camborne School of Mines graduate, he founded Cornish Lithium in 2016 and has successfully developed the company into what it is today. We discuss the journey they have been on and how the UK mining industry is shaping up. KEY TAKEAWAYS The lithium brine in Cornwall has very low salinity, which makes it easier to process. This brine is hot, so Cornish Lithium is exploring the possibility of putting that heat to green use. They are also developing an existing open pit to extract lithium hydroxide or carbonate. Alan Carter is the President & CEO of Cabral Gold, a mineral exploration company with a focus on gold and copper with a key asset is the Cuiu Cuiu gold project located in Northern Brazil. A geologist by background, Alan has an extensive career across South America so is well-positioned to develop this gold project in Brazil and give us an update on the Cuiu Gold project plus news on other discoveries in the local area. KEY TAKEAWAYS Alan´s obsession with finding the source of the gold that was being mined in 100 streams across a 250 km area of Brazil has resulted in several major finds. Currently, Cabral Gold has about 1.2 million ounces of already defined resources in the Cuiu Cuiu district, across a 5 to 6 km area. They currently have another 14 very promising targets. The mine next door to them, TZ, is set to go into production during Q2 2024, which has greatly improved the infrastructure in the region. He has been the CEO of Cora for nearly 3 years and takes us through that journey. Bert provides us with an update on developments and what the outlook is for the company moving forward. Two-thirds of the resources are indicated and a third are inferred. They mostly sit in easy-to-dig material. Cora Gold´s initial brownfield exploration shows another 1.3 million ounces of gold in the area. Returns for shareholders have been good and there is every reason to expect this to continue. It is an open pit oxide mine, which has a very low technical risk and costs. Currently, the mine has an expected life of 6 to 8 years, with quite a bit of potential to expand this. There is a lot of positivity around their financing. The plan is to start producing gold in 2024. For the mining sector in Mali, the future is bright. Much of the waste generated over the past 80 years has processable spodumene in it. The first sales of lithium out of Blesberg are expected in Jan 2023. Their customers have provided the funding they needed to do this. They are exploring the idea of wind power for the mine. Marula has found surface copper deposits at their Zambia project. In Tanzania, they have good copper results. Their Zambian rare earths project is already JORC compliant.
