Celebrate Earth Day With The Godfather of Green, Jerry Yudelson

Jerry Yudelson is the Earth Day co-founder and author of the upcoming memoir, The Godfather of Green: An Eco-Spiritual Memoir. In The Godfather of Green: An Eco-Spiritual Memoir, Jerry shows how the serious practice of meditation and mindfulness can go hand-in-hand with practical and radical ecology. The message is simple: change yourself before you try to change the world. This edict is close to Jerry’s heart and he has become known worldwide as “The Godfather of Green.” Listen & Subscribe on: iTunes / Stitcher / Podbean / Overcast / Spotify Contact Info Website: www.JerryYudelson.net Blog: www.ReinventingGreenBuilding.com Book: The Godfather of Green: An Eco-Spiritual Memoir by Jerry Yudelson Most Influential Person My first teacher, Swami Muktananda Effect on Emotions Occasionally you might have a blip of anger or sometimes you might think someone is being a little unfair. It's at that time that something kicks in. There's nothing to be angry about, instead how can you understand what this person is trying to say or what they are doing. Thoughts on Breathing Breathe in deep, breathe out long. I have this app on my Apple watch and every now and then it pops up and says breathe. For 60 seconds you can stop and breathe and it will give you a tap on the shoulder. You begin to see this connection between mind and breath as a pathway into meditation but also as an awareness [asking] am I breathing now, am I calm and centered? Because if you're breathing deeply in and out, you're going to be calm and centered. It's impossible not to be. Laughing In The Face of COVID19; Dr. Madan Kataria

Dr. Madan Kataria is the founder and originator of the Laughter Yoga movement worldwide. A medical doctor from Mumbai, India, is popularly known as the ‘Guru of Giggling’ (London Times). Dr. Kataria says that Laughter yoga is the ultimate protection plan against the coronavirus, after all, laughter is known to strengthen the immune system. Dr. Kataria started the first laughter club back in 1995 with just 5 people and now it has grown into a worldwide movement of more than 16,000 Laughter Yoga clubs in over 100 countries Listen & Subscribe on: iTunes / Stitcher / Podbean / Overcast / Spotify Contact Info Website: www.laughteryoga.org Most Influential Person My mother – She never went to school and was the mother of 14 children. She was a classical example of mindfulness because she was totally involved in the family. She inspired me to become a doctor. Effect on Emotions Laughter yoga has helped me to balance my emotions. First, it works like a catharsis. All the negative experiences and emotions from the past that are not in my control, they are all sitting in my subconscious mind. How can I release those? Laughter works like a catharsis, it's a release mechanism. Thoughts on Breathing Your thoughts are connected to your breathing. With stress, your breathing gets faster. I cannot control my thoughts, but I can control my breathing. The way you can change your thoughts is by changing the way you breathe. So laughter yoga and breathing exercises help you to bring down the number of thoughts and relearn how to breathe from the belly and from the diaphragm. That brings more parasympathetic balance and you become more relaxed. Suggested Resources Book: Laughter Yoga: Daily Practices For Health and Happiness by Dr. Madan Kateria Book: Emotion and Health: An Overview Book: Emotional Intelligence: Daniel Goleman Book: The Whole New Mind by Daniel Pink App: Laughter Guru (to be launched this month at www.LaughterYoga.org) Bullying Story We introduced laughter yoga in 2010 in different schools and we were just doing 5 to 10 minutes of laughter exercises with school children. And our focus was not bullying, but the focus was helping children to reduce stress, improve their oxygenation, academic performance. But surprisingly many teachers in Bangalore's schools, they reported that laughter yoga has helped in their school to stop bullying. When children start laughing, the bullying takes a back seat, so this was a surprise element for us. Free Gift Do you want to become more calm, relaxed, peaceful, and content? Easter or Passover Meditation of Peace

This will be a different kind of Easter or Passover than you’ve probably ever had. We’re in lock-down or quarantine because of covid19. Almost all of us on the planet are being careful to observe social distancing. Please take this seriously. Stay at a distance from others, at least 2 meters or 6 feet away. Today I’m sharing a meditation to bring peace and groundedness to you. I will offer certain phrases and leave time afterward for you to gently repeat them in your own mind. The phrases will help you become grounded. They’ll help you find peace. There will be a lot of repetition here. That’s where you’ll find relief. I encourage inclusiveness, I encourage to let go of being judgmental, to accept what is. I encourage being connected rather than being alienated. To be caring rather than being indifferent. The phrases will be simple and general, yet will empower and support your well-being. The phrases I’m offering will be an act of generosity. Let me be safe, let me be healthy, let me feel peace and let me feel contentment. Feeling peace and contentment means, let life not be such a struggle. Let me accept life, let me live in the moment and be willing to remain in this moment. Remember this is not about forcing or about pushing to make something happen. It is about allowing, about letting go to make room for what works. Let me be safe, let me be healthy, let me feel peace and let me feel contentment. We’re not focusing on fear or anxiety, we’re focusing on what’s pure, what’s natural, what is. The more we can accept what is, the more we’ll thrive, the more we’ll be able to support each other. Let me be safe, let me be healthy, let me feel peace and let me feel contentment. Thanks for listening.

Forrest Willett is a sought-after speaker and survivor of two traumatic brain injuries. The first was at 2 years old and the second was when he was 31, his life was forever as a result of a violent car accident. He was 31 years old with a 2-year-old son, he had an excellent career, his business was booming. He felt helpless and hopeless. He was forced to make some tough decisions, like taking 100% responsibility for his life and giving up all blaming and excuses and complaining.
