Things may remain challenging in our COVID-ridden world this year, but Wu Yuzhuang teaches that though we may be under such circumstances, but it’s not over for the Christian. When our faith is under fire, Pastor Zhuang encourages us to choose obedience to God over the outcome we hope for. Jeremiah 29 exhorts the children of Israel to “plant gardens and eat their fruit”. Even in a time of difficulty, God’s people are called to flourish as Psalm 1 describes: to be like trees planted by the rivers—God is our source—bearing fruit in every season, never withering, but prospering in all we do. Be strengthened by this call to walk in obedience and thrive in 2021.

God still has a purpose for each of us—as we begin a new year, Aries Zulkarnain encourages us to put our trust in Jesus alone. Pastor Aries shows us that when we have a vision of Jesus in our lives—just as Mary did when the Angel announced to her that she would be with Child—it will enable us to look beyond our own limitations and began seeing the possibility of doing the impossible. First, we must see what Jesus has become on our behalf, only then can we be set free from thoughts that enslave us, just as Hannah became pregnant after surrendering her desire and esteem to God. Second, we must see what Jesus has done for us, then we have the confidence that He will bring His will to pass in our lives, just as God showed himself in a pot of fire and a torch (Gen 15:17), revealing Jesus’ perfect sacrifice. Be encouraged by this message and enjoy a blessed 2021!

2021 is the year for the believer to build up his spiritual storehouse in preparation for what God is going to do next. In his vision-casting message for the start of the year, Kong Hee sets the direction for City Harvest Church for the next 12 months. First, be intentional in cultivating Christlikeness, that is to live every day with the mindset that we will glorify God, whether at work, on campus or at home. Second, be intentional in unconditional love, expecting nothing in return, forgiving always. Finally, be intentional in marketplace discipleship, that is, seek first the Kingdom of God, not riches and fame, and trust Him for provision and blessing. In short, 2021 must be a year of mortification—the progressive killing of sin—and vivification—the continual growth of Christlikeness in us. Enjoy the message and get ready for the next move of God!

This Christmas season, Kong Hee brings a reminder of the hope and vision that Jesus came to give us. Vision is the ability to see and imagine how something will develop in the future; and as Prov 29:18 says “Without a vision, the people perish.” A vision does four things: one, it gives us a purpose for living; your life will have meaning. Two, a vision provides a road-map to guide us to our next step—you will know what to do next. Three, a vision will come under attack; we need to be aware of dream thieves, and to stand strong and cling to our vision. Finally, a vision will lead you to Jesus, just as the vision of the Christmas star led the three wise men to the Child. No matter how dark your situation may be right now, a fresh vision from Jesus can change your life. Be encouraged by this message!

We all want to live a useful and productive life that glorifies God. But in this age where we are constantly bombarded by social media, bad news and urgent work, some of us are experiencing extreme stress. As Christmas approaches, Kong Hee, preaching out of Luke 2:10-14, lists three gifts that Jesus came to give us that set us free from stress and brings us constant happiness. One, joy, because the joy of the Lord is your strength. When you have the joy of the Lord within, you are no longer anxious or panicky over whatever happens around you. Two, inner peace which replaces anxiety, fear and conflict through trust in God. Three, divine favor—favor with God and man. Illustrated with powerful real-life testimonies, this message will encourage you and remind you of the Reason for this season.

Believers will go through darkness, but they do not have to stay in it. This year may have filled you with anxiety and fear—how do you deal with your emotions? In this sermon, Aries Zulkarnain teaches that we should pray through our emotions, processing them in the presence of God, and not bypass them. Drawing from King David’s example when he was faced with fear and anxiety, Pastor Aries shows that it is important to pray to see from God’s perspective: God’s shield of protection only works when we face danger instead of running away; and relocate your glory and see God’s salvation plan for you.

How do we make sense of 2020? What is God telling us? In this sermon, Wu Yu Zhuang draws from Jeremiah 29:5, in which the prophet encouraged the children of Israel in captivity to prepare to stay in Babylon, and while they were waiting, to “build houses and dwell in them, plant gardens and eat their fruit.” Likewise, we find ourselves held captive by COVID-19. Yet, while we remain in this situation, we must build our house—both our natural family and our spiritual family. It’s the time to build good relationships in our household: husbands must help their wives; wives must encourage their husbands; children must honor their parents. Likewise, following in Jesus’ footsteps, we are to build the Church with our spiritual family. Be encouraged by this message to continue in good works even during bad times.

For the last two millennia, each year ends in hope because of Christmas, which is the celebration of Christ. In this illuminating sermon, Kong Hee unpacks what Apostle John meant when he called Jesus “the Word”. Jesus Christ the living Word has made Himself synonymous with the written Word. If we want to know how to interpret the Bible and live out the truth, we just have to look at Jesus. He comes into every situation we’re in when we find the Bible verse, meditate upon that Word and receive it into our hearts. In the same way that Mary received the seed of God’s Word that she would bear Jesus, all God wants is for us to believe and then receive the answers and miracles He has promised.

Of all those we are called to honor in their lives, the most important Person is God. Kong Hee teaches us five ways to honor the Lord. First, we honor Him with our whole heart—our thoughts, affections, desires, visions and dreams, motives, concerns and morality. We honor Him with our body by fleeing sexual immorality and respecting the body that is the temple of the Holy Spirit. We honor God by enjoying our Sabbath, setting aside one day a week for the things that glorify Him. We honor God with our worship, giving Him the sacrifice of our praise even in tough times. And finally, we honor Him with our giving—just as the Father gave us Jesus, the Firstfruit, so do we honor Him with our tithes and offerings.

What does God require of us as believers? In this sermon, Bobby Chaw shows us the answer in Deuteronomy 10. We are to fear the Lord our God, walk in all His ways and love Him - to fear is to honor God. Honoring God begins in our heart and mind. In our prayer and communion with Him, we give Him honor and preference, constantly aware of His presence. Finally, we can honor God by blessing and praising Him at all times, even through the darkest of days. Let all that is within us, bless and honor the Lord!
